Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Church clothes for babies

DH and I don't attend church, however we will be attending a church service some time in the next month or two and don't have anything appropriate for DD to wear.  I would like to be respectful and dress her appropriately.  What do you dress your babies in for church?

Re: Church clothes for babies

  • C goes to church with my mother every week. He wears his normal clothes that he would wear if we were going to the mall or something. Most "church" clothes are usually uncomfortable for babies, especially when they are getting to moving around more.

  • Anything convenient.

We started out (for DS) with dressy outfits (sweaters, button-up shirts, etc.) but between spit-up, pooping/peeing during diaper changes, and not wanting to wake a sleeping baby, we just started going with the flow. We would much rather arrive at church on time and not stressed so we can focus on the service than worry about coordinating outfits. Sometimes he wears something dressy, other times it's a onesie and pants, and yes, he's been to church in a sleeper before.

ETA: We attend a fairly conservative church, DH wears dress pants and button shirt and I wear a dress or slacks with hose.

  • It depends on the weather. Since its been cold I'll just put her in jeans, onesie, with a nice sweater and bow. Kind of like what she is wearing in my siggy.

Now that its starting to warm up I'm bustin out the dresses! Hooray!

  • This weekend DS wore jeans, long sleeve polo, and a sweater vest and he was more dressy than normal. Usually jeans or khakis and a cute onsie. No one really cares what babies are wearing. They look cute no matter what!

It depends on the church.  Do you know if they're more laid-back, or are they super traditional?  I have 4 dresses J will wear to church on any given Sunday (except for Easter), but I also like to dress for services.

It's a fairly traditional church.  Men in suits, women in dresses.

  • I just dress him cute.  Whatever you would dress her in to show her off.  We don't do anything too formal.

  • Thanks ladies!  I think I'll just dress her in something neat and tidy and not worry too much:)
  • We attend church weekly so DD has several "church" dresses that she wears.  It's usually a dress from TJ Maxx or Marshalls that we dress up more with the frilly socks, dress shoes and a sweater.  She doesn't typically go anywhere without a bow or flower on her headband or hat so she always has a headband on.

  • I put DD's in anything but sleepers and Jeans.
