Middle Name Help :)

We have finally decided on a girl's name that we both like! Now we have to find a middle name that will work. I'd really like to use the name Lorraine to honor my aunt with whom I was extremely close. She passed away 7 years ago. However, the Mr. really dislikes that name, so I'm trying to come up with another middle name to honor her by should we have a girl.

Does anyone have any ideas? The name we have chosen to name our potential little girl is Adele.

Adele Lorraine is not off the table by any means, but I'm definitely open to something a little different so that we can both love the entire name, you know?

  • I absolutely adore the name Adele and I think the middle name you're thinking of flows very well. I love your reason for using it too. That's very sweet.

Other ideas for a similar name to honor your aunt: Laura or Lauren?

  • I looked up the meaning to that name and it means laurel which is also the meaning of my name Lauren.  So maybe you can use Lauren or Laurel.  I love the name Laurel and so did DH but since it was waaaaaaaay too close to my name we decided not to use it!

  • I think Adele Lorraine sounds like a beautiful name. You could also use Lori or Lora but I think Lorraine sounds better.

  • Thanks! I think I'm going to have to show the Mr. this post so he can see that others think Adele Lorraine is a very pretty name. Smile

I do like the idea of using Laurel or Lauren if we end up not using Lorraine.

  • Just a thought but what about using 1/2 of your aunt's name and naming  her

    Adele Raine..

I think it's beautiful but I can see how it would be a little alternative for some people's tastes.

I did suggest this the other day, but he wasn't a fan. He'd rather name the babe Adele Lorraine than Adele Raine, so I suppose that's a good thing for me. :)

  • What about cutting Lorraine short -- to Laine? Adele Laine?? I kind of totally love it :)

  • I think Adele Lorraine is beautiful! That said, I'll be the first to admit DS's name doesn't have the best flow, yet it's meaning has more importance to me. :)

This was going to be my suggestion. Love it!

  • Absolutely love Adele, so gorgeous! You got some good suggestions, also wanted to throw out the idea of Lorelei. I personally really like Lorraine though :)
