DH and I went to register for our shower today (it's early because of health issues) at Babies 'r' Us.
It was not the greatest experience. Their selection was not impressive and they were woefully understaffed. Our shower is in a different state so they were our only option.
Sigh. First world problems, right? I guess if this is the extent of my gripe factor in life I've got a good thing going!

Re: Exhausting and Underwhelming
Get ready for an UO:
I don't like Targhetto!
This totally. We have a BRU but that is the "ghetto" option! Unless we drive 45 minutes to go to a bigger better one.
Does your family use the internet? I've registered for everything on amazon since you can find most everything on amazon for cheaper than you can at BRU (figure that my guests shouldn't be paying full price when they don't have to!). Other nice option on amazon is being able to add to your list something from ANY OTHER STORE online - so i'm really getting things that *I* would like instead of things dictated by the store.
If you're interested, go to amazon.com, place 'baby registry' in the search engine portion of it and it'll take you through the steps on how to register. Good luck!
This exactly for me too, lol. I'm totally going for Target and Buy Buy Baby. I love Target, we registered there for our wedding and it was a great experience! The BRU by us is just like the Bed Bath and Beyond, lets see how much crap you can fit into one store and it becomes overwhelming. We had a much better time at Target then anywhere else.
Huh. Weird-our BRU experience was great. Really impressed with the staff and how helpful they were, but obviously that differs from store to store.
I didn't know what to expect because I've heard mixed reviews, but they were really great for us!
LOL I'm jealous of you ladies who have choices. Where I am, we have Walmart and Meijer. And that's it. Target and BRU are both a minimum of 45 mins away.
Sorry you had such a crap experience.
I concur with the ones using Amazon. I figure if someone wants to buy something from my Amazon registry somewhere else, more power to them, but I can log in and edit it at any time and they have an option where you can import items from different websites to your Amazon registry.
I also like that I can add and delete from it at my pace......I was very exhausted and ovewhelmed when DH and I did our wedding registry at Bed Bath and Beyond....WAY to many options.
