Babies: 3 - 6 Months

when did your LO go into Size 2 diapers?

I'm trying to get an idea of when DS will go into size 2 diapers to figure out if I should cancel my Amazon order for another box of size 1.

I think the box says size 1 goes to 14 lbs (Pampers), so that would be just another couple of weeks for us, if it's accurate. Is it easy to tell when they're ready for the next size?

TIA!

Re: when did your LO go into Size 2 diapers?

  • We're still in size 1's at 4.5 months, but DD only weighs about 12 lbs.  Some babies her age weigh 17 lbs, so I think its too tough to predict!

  • We just switched last weekend he was 4 months, 1 week.  At his 4 month appt he was 13lbs 5 oz.

  • I switched her over to size 2's when she was about 11 1/2 lbs at about 3 months.  The size 1's were getting too tight around her thighs so it all really just depends on the shape of your baby even though it gives you a weight recommendation.

  • As PP said, you can always cancel and create a new subscription. With that said, I never pay much mind to the size range on Pampers. LO grew out of size 1 Baby Dry Pampers three weeks ago and now is using sz 2s. If you see red marks and it's taking a bit of an effort to close the diaper (having to pull on the tabs to reach the velcro on the front), then it's time to move up. Especially true if you are having leakage issues.

  • I think this may be the first time I've posted on this page...but your post made me chuckle because I just switched my DD to size 3 after her 4 month appt - she was 25.75" and 16lbs 6ozs.  We refer to her as "big baby."

  • When we use sposies they are 1-2 size. She can wear a 2 but they are big.

  • My son fit in to sixe 1 for a week right now at 5 months old he's in a size 4 he's basically toddler size I switch sizes when I feel they get to tight around the belly or theres a gap he was in 3's and peed outside it so I went up to 4 and it fix the problem
  • When he was 2 months old, the size 1's cut in around his little thunder thighs and they didn't provide enough back coverage to hold in his epic poops anymore. I think he was only like 12 and a half pounds at the time.

  • DS is in size 3s, and has been since about 6 weeks (he weighed 14 lbs at 6 weeks). Also, it's about body shape, not weight. DS could almost go in size 4s soon cause his belly is so big.

  • We just switched LO from pampers 1-2 to full on 2. He was 15 lbs, 10 ounces about 1.5 weeks ago.

  • DD has always been long and lean. She was in size 2s around 3.5 mos
  • It is mostly weight dependant. Pamers size 1 are from 8-14 pounds, but their Size 2 is 12-18 pounds, so there is some overlap. However, we went to size 2s just after 11 pounds. Two reasons: They weren't containing her poop anymore, and I needed a new box, wanted to buy economy size and didn't need 200ish diapers when she was about to outgrow them! They fit just fine. Like PP mentioned ... when they are leaving red marks or you're having to pull harder at the velcro, that's a good indicator.
  • I literally just switched to size 2 yesterday.  My LO is only like 13lbs right now but size 1's just aren't holding enough if you know what I mean... we've had one too many blow outs. ;)

  • At two months he was already 13 lbs and got switched to 2s, two weeks ago he was almost 20 lbs and switched to 3s about a month ago.
