NBR: Anyone on Weight Watchers? Need help/advice...

I just started a few weeks ago, and I did great the first week (lost 5 lbs), then the second week I lost 2 lbs even though I was still doing really well with the plan. I have no idea how much I lost this week (I weigh in tomorrow), but I don't feel like it's going to be great. Maybe 1-2 lbs? I hit my target of 29 PP each day, exercise at high intensity for 40 minutes 3 times a week, and don't ever really dig into my weekly PP or my activity PP. If I do, I only use around 5 extra ones per week.

I feel like I'm scared to use the extra PP- like if I do, I won't lose anything. What have your experiences been with using the weekly/activity PP? Do you still lose as much? I don't necessarily feel like I'm depriving myself, but sometimes I still want to eat more. I'd LOVE to stay at losing 2 lbs a week, but I know it's not always realistic.

What's working for you?

  • My PP target is 29 too. I eat them all and almost all my weeklies every week. I usually don't eat my APs.  Try eating more of the weeklies. I can tell you from experience it's a good idea to get your body used to the extra points. Once you get down lower, you'll want eat them, and your body will have to adjust. That being said, your current rate of weight loss is awesome! I can tell you the I started running and it's really helping the weight come off. Good luck!

  • I am the opposite... I lost 45lbs in 3 months on WW a few years ago and I only ever used my extra points like maybe 3 times... I worked out and went hard core...

with that said... I just started again about a month ago... I have lost 15lbs so far (i havent weighed in yet this week) I actually dont go to the meetings I just follow the plan since I have the books... I am not sure if the plan has changed a lot... I know there is now points plus... I still use the old points program which I know works for me... If you are hungry use them if not then go without... I found that I would use more as I lost more weight as like a reward for me.. .Idk maybe I am not the one to ask since I dont go to meetings...

    Sorry

  • I lost about 75 lbs on WW before I got pregnant, some weeks you're not going to lose even if you do everything right. The calories in those point ranges are actually quite low. What I did was give myself 5 extra a day for wine or full ft cheese or whatever. The more I lost, and the more active I was the more I needed to eat to keep losing.
  • I get 37 points(I'm nursing), I use all of my weeklies, and I use all of the APs that I earn and I still lose weight.  If you don't use all of your weeklies, it is possible you aren't getting enough calories and your metabolism will slow down.  I suggest eating more if your weight loss slows down.  And remember that a 1 lb. loss per week is a healthy rate of loss and will result in over 50 lbs in one year.

  • Thanks for all the help, ladies. I guess we'll see what happens tomorrow, and if it's lower than I'd like, I'll dig into the weekly PP a little. I also have had my period for almost 2 weeks, so that could be messing with my body too (it's my first post partum period that seems to be neverending!) No harm in switching things up a little though.

  • The first week of any diet it's common to drop 5 lbs.

1-2 lbs a week is an average drop.  It's better to lose the weight slowly and that's how WW is designed.

I've found that I can't use my bonus points or I don't drop the way I want to.  As far as activity points- it depended on the week.  You are "supposed" to use them.  And honestly, if you don't consume enough points, that can prevent you from losing as much as you want.

I've found you kind of have to play around with the bonus points and activity points to see what works best for your body.  But you HAVE to eat your daily allowance for sure.

You're doing great.  I love WW

This reminded me of something my WW leader used to tell us.  If you notice that you're not dropping as much weight, try to change up what you're eating. I've found that I get in a "groove" with WW and will eat teh same thing for breakfast and lunch every day because I know it works and how much it is, etc.  You can kind of "trick" your  body by changing the food.
