How do you feel about pregnancy tickers??

This may be a flammable subject, but I want to know if I am the only one that feels this way.

How do you feel about early pregnancy tickers (3-5 weeks). My opinion is absolutely influenced by my missed miscarriage at 9 weeks. Early tickers irritate the crap out of me!

I'm with you and I'm sure it also has to do with my early losses. I'm not sure if I'll put up a ticker at all next time.

I don't mind them at all. I think that every day of pregnancy should be appreciated as a gift and enjoyed, despite the risks.

Otherwise, when would it be 'safe' to post them? I have had friends miscarry in first and second trimester, so I never think there is a truly safe time.

I put up a ticker right when I got my positive beta during my last pg. I in no way was overly confident, however I'd waited years to put up one of those tickers and I was going to enjoy it. I did eventually m/c and I had to take that ticker off, but honestly, that was the least of my concerns.

This time I waited until we heard a hb to put up a ticker. It doesn't mean that I think I'm in the clear - I'm a nervous wreck. But I want to be able to enjoy it on a day to day basis.

I understand what you're saying though - sometimes it gives the impression that people are naive and just assume that if you get a BFP it will = a baby in 9 months.

I've never been pregnant. If I ever get a positive beta, I may have a hard time not putting up a ticker immediately (okay, I will at least make sure they are doubling). I know that doubling betas in no way ensures one will end up with a live baby, but I will want to celebrate a positive beta any way. I hope my nerves don't keep me from enjoying it at all.

From my years on the IF board, I've just seen too many people get pregnant and lose babies to ever put one up early. When I had my BFP I didn't put one up and I'm so glad I didn't, since it didn't end in a baby. I'd hate, hate, hate to have to remove a ticker if I had another loss.

I wouldn't ever put a ticker up before the end of my first trimester. Not that I think I'm "safe" in the second/third...but...

As of right now they don't really bother me. But I haven't been through any where near what some of you ladies have. Though my feelings could change in the future.

When I get pregnant, I am going to put one up right away and I have had an early loss. Even if I lose the baby, it does't mean that I was never pregnant in the first place. I will want to celebrate it, even if I am nervous about it.

Honestly the easiest thing about my m/c was taking down my ticker. Not a big deal in the whole scheme of things. I do feel like it is naive (which I guess everyone is entitled to) to put one up before the pee is dry on the stick, if you know what I mean. I think I waited until after my betas or u/s last time and will again. That being said, I don't really care what other people do.

I've never had a pee stick with a positive result. HPT, OPK doesn't matter- never had one show even the slightest hint of possibility. I think it will be incredibly hard not to do cartwheels across the lawn if I have a positive beta and a ticker is just part of enjoying something we have hoped for and given blood, money, and tears to achieve.

Could it end in a miscarriage? Yes. That's why I probably won't be doing cartwheels -I'll probably be too afraid that anything so exuberant might somehow jostle the baby loose. But I'll cross the miscarriage bridge if/when I come to it. I have to focus on the positive or I start to fall to pieces imagining the worst case.

That said, I won't put up a ticker until I feel comfortable moving off the IF boards. That probably means after a second beta that's doubling. I intend to be out of y'alls hair by the time I want to start putting tickers up and cheering at ultrasounds.

That sounds perfect! It is hard to be here and see so many tickers. I wish I wasn't so jealous, but I am.

Good point. I probably won't post one early, but I can see why someone would embrace their positive pregnancy test and post one.

This is actually my first ticker and it came up at 6 weeks and 1 day, the day of my ultrasound.

This is how I feel. I didn't put mine up until 5 weeks, but taking it down was the least of my concerns.

I think I'll put one up right away. I've waited a long time for a BFP and want to celebrate it. However, I see how they can be viewed as insensitive on the IF board. I think for the most part, people are pretty considerate about posting warnings about tickers.

To each their own - they don't bother me! If it brings someone joy to put up a ticker I say why not!? Not sure when or if I will put up a ticker - we shall see.

My feelings as well. I also agree that every pregnancy, however long, has the right to be celebrated. Especially after all the disappointments.

I say to each their own. They don't bother me either way. When I get my BFP I will probably wait until I hear a heart beat to put one up. I've waited a long time for a BFP so I'm going to enjoy every second of it.

I completely get what you're saying, but they don't really bother me. When I got pregnant, I agonized over when to put one up. After 3 good betas and my first u/s, I decided it would be ok. I miscarried and now it seems silly to me that I actually agonized over when to put it up - it wasn't as if waiting those 2 extra weeks warded off the inevitable. If there is a next time (gosh, I pray that there is!), maybe I'll just save myself the "is it safe?" mind games and put one up at 4 weeks...pretty badass, I know:)

I've never been pregnant.? If I ever get a positive beta, I will prob. Make a ticker and tell people( not everyone)If I miscarry then people will mabye understand my pain and then I wouldn't have to be alone. So as the girls in PAIF say "Today I'm pregnant" No one can predict tommorrow!
