My drinking buddy at work asked me for a quick drink..she's having a rough day and needs to chat. I told her i'm on antibiotics for a stomach issue and can't drink.
Was that a bad excuse? Anyone know how I can expand on that so it doesn't look like i'm making something up?
LOL, i've never passed on a drink until now. Granted, I have a great reason, but i'm not good at saying no to a drink!!
TIA!
Re: Help! I need an 'i'm not drinking' excuse!
Haha- this sounds so familiar! I'm usually the one suggesting the happy hours.
I'm in the same boat... the antibiotics thing worked like a charm, but only ONCE.... no one can stay on antibiotics for 12 weeks. Now I just have to pretend that I'm lame.
Also- club soda & lime looks just like a gin and tonic to unsuspecting partygoers.
I'd say, go with the KISS method- that is, keep it simple stupid. (not that you're stupid, I don't even know you, that's just the name of this method)
DON'T try to elaborate on a lie...you're only going to make the story look more convoluted and made up. Just stick with what you said and drop it!
Stomach issue sounds like a good excuse. Most people don't want more info than that!!
If it comes up again just say it hasn't cleared up and your doctor advised you against alcohol!
Thanks ladies! Good point! I'll definitely use the KISS method. No one needs to know about the dark side of 'stomach issues'
