Anyone been to Nantucket or the Hamptons during the summer?

I am starting to plan our summer vacation..DH, Jake and I are planning on going up north to Ma for a week in July. Then Jake and I are going to stay for the rest of the month of July in Ma to hang out with my parents and IL's and cousins. July and August in Fla is soo hot!!

Anyway, I orginally thought that we would just go the the Cape like we always did.  We normally go to Chatham or Harwich and rent a house. But I am now thinking that maybe we should do something different.

I have lived in MA my whole life and never been to Nantucket. Is there enough to do for a week or would we be totally board? Does the same go for the Hamptons? I have never been..is it SUPER crowded in the SUMMER? Is it crazy expensive??  I am used to cape traffic but it usually by once we get to Chatham or lower cape it isn't as bad.

    I have never stayed a whole week in Nantucket (I am from MA too) but I absolutely love it there. If you mix it up with days of relaxation at the beach (weather be willing) then I think there is enough to explore. There is a little aquarium, museums, light houses and historical homes to tour. A wild life refuge. A cranberry bog. Art galleries and if you golf, some courses. 
    A lot of years and a million tears finally led me to you.
    After 7 years trying to concieve, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs, my third IVF was a success!
    My Christmas baby turned into a turkey bird! Dillon Richard was born at 34 weeks, 5 days on November 28, 2009 after 10 weeks on bedrest for preeclampsia.

    My sister has a place in the Hamptons (south).  It is crowded in the summer but the worst of the traffic is getting to and from the whole area on the weekends.  The beaches are nice and it's a pretty area.  I think I would like to go to Nantucket though.

    One nice thing about the Hamptons would be that you could take the train or the Jitney to Manhattan for day trips if that would interest you.  I would not travel on a Monday or Friday though.
