s/o names: do you like your niece/nephew's names?
For those that already have nieces or nephews - do you like their names?
Our style is very different from DH's brother's. We are much more classic, older, simple. They went more new/trendy. At least I don't have to worry they'll ever 'steal' a name, or that we'd want to name a baby the same name.

Baby #3 will come in June---it's a girl and she will possibly be Katherine or Olivia. I'm rooting for Olivia.
I have three. I like their names pretty good. My sister actually named her son one of the names on our short list (without knowing) so that was kinda funny.
ETA: it might help if I told you their names
Alexandra - goes by Alex, she's 19, so it's definitely a 80's/90's name
Myles - like the name, don't like the Y so much
Gage - this is the name my sister 'stole', he was just born last month
Their names are OK. Not terrible, but not my style either.
ETA: Oh, except for SIL's little boy. She picked a name that I really like!
Nephews' names:
Brandon Joshua
Mason James
Nieces' names:
Emma Lee
Ryleigh Taylor
Taylor (I can't remember her middle name to save my life but is sounds nice)
My sister wanted Brandon to be named Braiden but his dad didn't like that so they compromised on Brandon. Braiden is NMS and I like Brandon much better.
Wait, clarify! His name is Anakin David or David Anakin?
I don't have any nieces or nephews yet! We're the first on both sides of the family to procreate
I thought your post was funny because my name is Kaitlin, and you pretty much said what I have been thinking. I love my name, but nothing is ever spelled correctly with my name on it. Ever. (Best was the guy at Starbucks wrote my name CatlyM ??) Which I'm used to by now, but my children's names must be very easy to spell. Definitely part of my decision making process too!
I dont have nieces or nephews but my cousin has children I tend to consider them as such..
Elana = (Alana) I dont like the spelling or the name really.

Her third she plans to name Madison which is okay just a little popular but the middle name choice whish is this baby's fathers name Casey doesnt match to me.. Madison Casey?
I LOL'd at calling him Vader as a nn instead of Annie.
I am a Star Wars fanatic and may throw the names Luke and Leia into the list when we start talking names.

the joke in the family was that DH and i would have the twins and then would HAVE to name them Luke and Leia
2 lil boys i watched had parents that were really big into Marvel and DC comics - one was Nathan Kent and the other was Nicholas Wayne - heehee
My brother's kids are Tyler Cole and Emmy Logan. I love both names. Tyler is named for Fight Club (Tyler Durden is Brad Pitt's character's name) and Anthony Keidis from the Red Hot Chili Peppers (Cole Dammit was his stage name early in his career). Fight Club is my favorite book and RHCP is one of my favorite bands, so I love his name. Emmy took a little while to grow on me, but I completely love it now. Logan is at the top of our list for a boy name, though, and I'm not sure how that will fly with them.
DH's cousin's kids (who we consider our nieces because DH and his cousin have always been like brothers) are Taylor and Bailey (It's so bad that I can't remember their middle names! Taylor's starts with a J - Jane, I think). They're a little trendy for me, but I still like them. I think there are 3 girls named Taylor on her softball team, so she had been going by the name TJ for years.
Not to worry. I get it. We are thinking of Antilles for a middle name.
I like all of my nieces and nephews names- except that I would have named my niece Gwendalyn, Gwyneth instead. But I call her Gwen anyway. MH was upset that my sister named her other daugher Isabel because he loves that name. But my sister had it picked out before I met MH. I told him to get over it!
Nephews: Dylan Xander and Lucas Raymond
Nieces: Isabel Brooke and Gwendalyn Faye

I love the names my sister picked: Josslyn Grace and Felix Griffin. (And I'm not usually a fan of changing the spelling of a name, but I do like that she did. Josslyn is spelled like that bc she knew she would probably end up going by Joss and "Jocelyn" makes is very difficult to write that. Joc?)
DH's brother and SIL chose biblical names. And while they're not really my style, I think they're also very nice names: Isaac Adam, Naomi Erin, and Hannah Ethel. All the middle names are meaningful to them, named after family/friends.
We have 2 nephews. I LOVE both of their names!
My sister's son: Brody Alan
SIL son: Logan David
Nephews:
Joseph Vincent - goes by Vince, and I'm okay with this name, except for him going by his middle name. I had to deal with this growing up and it's such a pain to correct every teacher every single year.
Seth Mitchell - Like his name
Wyatt Thurman-Dale - I'm not even joking. Wyatt isn't bad, but to incorporate both of their dad's middle names and use a dash at that is just terrible.
Nieces:
Lorraine Madeline (Made-lyn, in case you were wondering
) - she goes by Lori and was named after her dad's mom that has passed. I like Lori and Madeline, so no complaints there.
Lindsay Madison - (she's Lori's twin sister) - I love her name. Goes well with her sister's name too.
And as an added bonus, if my brother had a girl instead of boy (Wyatt Thurman-Dale), it would have been November Leeann, and they'd call her Novie. I'm not even joking. I guess Wyatt is the lesser of two evils there since at least his first name is normal.
Both of them are on my H's side. I like my nephew's name a lot but my H is the one that actually suggested it to them. It's Damian.
Our niece on the other hand has one of the worst names in the world, I feel sorry for her. It is Chevelle (like the car). If she is overweight at all the kids at school are probably going to call her Heavy Chevy
This is one of those cases where the parents need to think long term.

Yes, I know my name is spelled differently. That was my dad. His name has an extra/uncommon letter in a fairly common name. So he decided we should too.
ETA: I don't have any neices or nephews yet, but I do have a cousin who has 2 daughters and a son on the way
Her oldest is Lucretia Winter Ann Nevaeh. Lucretia and Ann are family names, and I can't express how much I hate the other names.
Her second is Autumn Savannah Marie. Again, Savannah and Marie I don't have a problem with, Savannah was my cousins little sister who died, along with her twin a few hours after they were born.
And she's naming the boy Keegan Eugene something. She wanted to name him Eugene Keegan, but since she's taking Eugene from my grandfather's middle name he put his foot down and said that the poor kid would be teased forever.
My SIL named her son Ryan Wayne- not a bad name, but not something I'd pick
Her daughter is Tanlea (Tan-lee) Marie- I have never ever heard of a Tanlea, but it fits her. They call her Tan for short which drives DH and I crazy!
Niece: Ariana, love it!
Nephew: Maxx, ehhh....it's ok.
They're not terrible but I wouldn't use them. One is Brooke Leigh (broccoli anyone?) and the other is Madison Lane. My little sister had a friend named Madison 20 years ago before it was trendy and I loved it back then but it's very popular now.
SIL wanted to use the name Hunter if she had a boy and that was always a favorite of mine, but I'm over it now, and DH doesn't like it anyway.
