Weird Boob Pain Question...

The last 2 days I have had one boob that is extremely sore, even just to the touch. The area that is sore is hard underneath the skin, and the weirdest part about this is the sore spot is bright red on the skin - looks like a mild sunburn. It is only red on the sore area which is about the size of 4 fingers or so. It hurts alot to nurse off of that side, but gets a little better after a few minutes into it. Does anyone have any idea what this could be? I plan on calling my Dr. about this today, but thought maybe some of you would have some ideas.

    You have a clogged/blocked duct.  Given that you did not state you had a fever, then it's unlikely you have mastitis.  However, a blocked duct can turn into mastitis. I recommend reading on kellymom about blocked ducts, or you could always google it. You want to do everything you can to not allow it to become mastitis because I can tell you from personal experience that mastitis is a b*tch to deal with.

    Google clogged duct and address ASAP! You do not want this to turn into mastitis. Keep an eye on your temp. If you start to run a fever contact your dr.

    I agree with it being a clogged duct.

    Massage massage massage - apply heat (take a warm shower or a hot washcloth) and then pump/massage and NURSE. Nursing is the best way to get rid of it, but if LO doesn't want to, go with the massage and just pump or manually express until the "bump" goes away.
