Has anyone changed facewashes since finding out they were pregnant? With DD I changed to one without salicylic acid and I was broken out the entire time... does anyone have a good reccomendation?
I used to have pretty bad acne back in the day and not much worked. Someone suggested Basis soap to me. Its for sensitive skin, it has been working for me. Check it out, it may help
I have super sensitive skin and have been on Cetaphil for years, I checked the ingredients list and it doesn't have salicylic acid in it. I really recommend it!
My face has broken out really bad, started in the 2WW and hasn't stopped! I actually realized today that the Olay Daily facials I use have salicylic acid in them. I used to use Aveeno, I believe the Positively Radiant one doesn't have the salicylic acid in it, so I'm going back to that.
Don't tell my mom, who sells Mary Kay, lol but I just use bar soap. Whatever brand I have a coupon for. I have pretty good skin, but my mom insists I will have really wrinkly skin when I age and I should be using a facial wash.
Stupid question alert--what's wrong with salycilic acid?
Honestly I think it's only really bad if you're eating it. This was posted on another board, and most girls there seemed to think in a facial wash or toner it was ok as long as you're not ingesting it, but there have been articles stating it's not good for pregnant woman.
I started using Aveeno Positively Radiant and am loving it so far. I also started randomly breaking out on my back (gross!) soon after getting pregnant, and my doctor recommended using Leaver2000 bar soap and that is really working well.
I use Neutrogena original liquid face wash. No medication, no oils, no fragrance. It cleans deep and doesn't leave a residue. Cetaphil products are good, too, but I never really feel clean with their face wash.
I'm not really convinced that salicylic acid in a face wash is anything to worry about. It's not on your skin for very long, and even if it was, I doubt enough of it could get into your blood stream to affect the baby. But, to each her own!
Salicylic acid isn't bad for pregnant women so long as you aren't taking it orally or using peels. If it's in your regular face wash (preferably with 2% or less SA), it's completely safe and there's no need to switch up your routine.
I have really bad skin and Proactiv is the only thing that works for me. I was worried that I would have to give it up when I got pregnant but my Dr. said it was fine to keep using it.
I was using Biore which I loved but have switched to Clean and Clear morning burst? or something? of course my forehead totally broke out, I'm going to try cetaphil next, but I don't like that medicated smell.
