Stella is still really sick. She woke up crying around 12:30pm and when I went in she was covered in puke again. After cleaning her up, I brought her into bed with us for the rest of night. She didn't throw up again, but we were up several times throughout the night with her...and Hadley (who refuses to sleep more than 2 solid hours).
It's been close to 48 hours and Stella hasn't eaten more than a couple bites of food and can't keep down her meds or any fluids either. I'm stuck at work right now because I don't have much PTO banked since I've only been back from maternity leave for 2 months. I feel guilty as hell not being with her right now, but at least my mom is taking care of her. I'm salary, so I'm leaving here at 11am to go be with her. Doc said we can only give her 1 Tbsp. of clear fluid every 15 minutes cause she keeps puking everything up. If she doesn't show improvement today we need to take her in and see about getting an IV. I don't want my baby to go through all that!
To make matters worse, I'm sick too and haven't slept more than a few hours in 2 days. I have an appt. this afternoon with a Rheumatologist to test for Fibromyalgia; which I'm also not looking forward to and feel like I should cancel since it takes away time from Stella.
If you've read this far, I'm impressed. I just feel like I'm about to lose it and could use some positive mama vibes!
Re: I feel like I'm losing it...
Oh, Marcu, I'm really sorry. These are trying times as a mother of two, aren't they?! I hope Stella improves and can keep down some fluids. Is this all b/c of her ear infection or do you think she has a stomach bug on top of it? I hope your appt. goes well today.

You know, I'm questioning that it just has to do with her ears. My gut tells me she has as stomach bug too. She suffered several ear infections last year as a baby and didn't have the pukes like this. The only times she's thrown up this much has been when she's had a bug.
Does she still have a fever? I know some kids are pukey when they have a fever...my sister was (still is) one of them.

Oh no! I'm so sorry. I know you want to spend as much time with Stella as possible, but can your mom watch her for a little bit longer when you get home so you can nap? You need to take care of yourself too!
I hope you all feel better soon!

Yeah, that's my plan pending that both girls are cooperating. I desperately need some sleep! Pretty sure that's why I'm sick now. I don't do well without plenty of sleep.

oh mama, I am so sorry you are both sick. I hope Stella improves soon but it does sound like she may have a stomach bug.
(((HUGS)))
When people say motherhood is tough, you don't ever take those words to heart until you're knee-deep in it! I'm praying that everyone is well soon and stays that way- without having to get IV fluids! You're an awesome mama!
I'm so sorry she's so sick. It's the worst thing ever to see your baby so pitiful, and I know it has to be equally tough to leave her and go to work. Hang in there. Hopefully she'll be feeling better and back to normal soon. ((hugs))
Don't cancel your appointment on Friday. If you do have fibro..., you'll want to get on the right meds asap. This is what is best for you and the girls, so don't postpone getting yourself feeling better!!!
Oh, you poor thing (and poor babies)! Anyone would be losing it in that situation. I'm finding illness one of the hardest things about having children to cope with. It's so hard to see them feeling badly, and it's so hard to keep up the energy to care for them when it seems to go on and on.
Can you take a few minutes to recharge tonight? I find that doing something like standing in the hot shower for a few minutes makes me feel refreshed and recharged. Maybe your husband can take care of things for 1/2 hr and then you can do the same for him?
I hope everyone is feeling better soon!
Oh, and Henry was puking this weekend, also, and when I called the pedi on Mon the nurse said it probably was related to the ear infection. She said they see that a lot in children--something about their equilibrium being off.
oh lady, what a tough bunch of stuff right now
the tummy bugs are THE WORST...we had a crappy one that hit all of us and lasted over a week in the kids, we were very close to having to take Joey in for an IV, and maybe should have...
i hope that you and Stella feel better VERY soon, and that Hadley starts to sleep more, the little stinker :P
good health, and sleep vibes lady and some of those virtual ((hugs)) thrown in too ..
