Trying to Get Pregnant

Second Estrogen Surge

Hey ladies!

This cycle I felt much better mentally prepared and I promised myself I wouldn't stress (yeah right!). I got two positive OPKS (only had two, so I didn't test after that), felt that I had sex throughout my fertile period, and saw my temperature start to rise right around when I expected. Our lives got hectic so we didn't think anything about taking a few days off....

...until my temperature dropped and I seemed to get a second fertile period.

Is this common? I try to look at everyone's charts when I actually get a chance to stalk the bump, but I don't remember seeing many like this.

Should I assume I didn't ovulate the first time? I know I need a two or so high temperatures now to "confirm" O this time, but I hate to say this cycle has thrown me for a loop.

 Thanks!

Re: Second Estrogen Surge

  • I woulddefinately assume you didn't ovulate the first time, your temps never surged high enough to show ovulation.

sometimes your body can gear up to ovulate then do it again, so yes I would expect you may be actually about to ovulate this time.

  • PP is right; you definitely didn't O yet, but you might be about to.  Check out some of the FF chart galleries; you'll see some charts more like yours.

  • You need 3 temps higher than the previous 6 to show ovulation, then temps should stay sustained over the CL. I would look for temps over 97.2 to show ovulation.

  • I agree with PPs - looks like you didn't O yet.  My cycle 2 (click on my ticker to take a look) had what I think was an O fake-out at around CD17.  I didn't actually O until CD23.  And you need three high temperatures that are about 0.6 degrees higher than your previous six to confirm O.

  • This is happening to me right now and it SUCKS! It looked like I had O'ed on CD 18 and then my temps went back down. I'm now on CD 24 with no confirmed O and it's very frustrating. My usual O is around CD 16 so now I'm 8 days "late". From what I've researched, O can be delayed for a number of reasons (for me, I think its either stress or my battle with allergies). As long as you've confirmed O in the past, I wouldn't worry at this point. I know, easier said than done. Hang in there and keep BDing!

  • Yeah from the looks of your chart I would say you are gearing up to O, but have not Oed yet...keep humping it out!! I would maybe start doing OPK's again and see what they say this go around.

  • Thanks girls! I will check out FF to look at other charts and will look forward to a few higher temps (hopefully the next couple days)!
