So, C has developed a bad cough and congestion, which as worsened the past 24 hours. My MIL took her to the pedi this morning, and they said it was a mucus buildup from teething/drooling. Has anyone else's LO experienced this? It sounds pretty bad, and I would hate to mistake it for teething. However, if that's what it is from, hopefully it is not long lasting. They provided her with some medicine to help her at night, but other than that, they say she is fine.
I am on the brink of switching pedi's and considering going to the new one for a second opinion.
Re: Coughing/congestion from teething??
I've heard from a lot of people that runny noses are often part of teething. I would imagine if your DD has had a runny nose or congestion, a cough could soon follow. Babies end up with lots of drainage on the inside, too, because they don't blow their noses.
That said, I've also been told that you should always check with the doctor, particularly if there's a fever. Even though it can still be a reaction to teething, it's better to have a doctor figure it out.
If you're switching pedis and you can get in soon enough, then why not get a second opinion?
