Stopped rolling over??

DD started rolling over during tummy time just a couple of days before her 2 month appointment. for a few weeks, she was doing it consistently.....and then stopped. She hasn't rolled over at ALL for over a month. I have a doctor's appointment for her in about a week so I will be asking the pedi about it, I was just curious if this happened to anyone else? Thanks!

maybe she doesn't want to roll over and she figured out how to NOT do it. DS just started rolling over and he clearly does it by accident. So if he becomes a bit more advanced he will likely stop doing it.

ETA: part of the reason I have this idea is because DH was playing with him and said, "he just did something more amazing than rolling over--he didn't roll over." When he was teetering he stopped it and didn't roll.

  • I never thought of that, but it's totally possible! DD is so stubborn that just might be what's going on! Smile
  • B goes thru phases where he rolls over every time I put him on his tummy and then not at all for days at a time.

I think it's normal once they have enough control to NOT do it because their head has overbalanced them. LOL

  • Jack did exactly this. He rolled over a lot right around 2 months old. About 20 times, so we knew it wasn't a fluke. But then he stopped for about a month. We weren't doing tummy time as much either. We started doing tummy time every awake period when he was in a good mood, and at around 3 months he started rolling over again.

  • Thank you everyone, you've made me feel better! I was starting to get worried!
  • The same thing happened with us.  She rolled over at 7 weeks and did it every day for about a week and then she stopped for about a month.  In the last week or so she has been doing it again regularly.
  • You just described DS! He was a rolling over maniac, and then 3 weeks ago he just stopped. Now when on his tummy he just puts his head down and cries and fusses. I asked the ped about it the other day and she said it's normal for them to stop doing one thing they learned because they're focusing on another--for DS I think it's because he's been working on bringing his hands together in front of his face, bringing a toy in those hands to his mouth, etc.
