Can piggyback on the sickly posts?

DD had what we thought was allergies (super running nose, watery eyes, and itchy nose).  Called Dr Chang on Wednesday, because the benadryl wasn't working very well, he said we could give childrens zyrtec.  Said it will take a few days to start working, call if it doesn't or if she spikes a fever.  It seemed to help, her running nose is much better and no more water eyes or itchy nose.  But of course, on SATURDAY, she starts running a fever...

I'm not too worried about the temp (100.4) but since I can't reach a nurse at this time should I not administer zyrtec tonight?  I don't plan on doing anything for the fever (as per treehouses' website) unless it gets to 102. If I do give zyrtex tonight can I give motrin tonight as well if I need to?

  • I'd still give her the Zyrtec. I wouldn't consider 100.4 a "spike", and I think Dr. C told you to call if she spikes a fever because something else is wrong and he wants to figure out what it is, not because the Zyrtec will hurt her if she's got a fever. Make sense? But when in doubt call the nurse/after hours nurse. Hope that helps and her fever goes down!

  • It does!  I think we'll go ahead and continue the zyrtec.  Her fever went down after her nap, but her face and head felt really hot!  We'll keep an eye on it.  Thanks for easing my mind about the zyrtec + motrin.  :)
