4 cries and counting....

Ok, how do I deal with these hormones? I have had to go the bathroom 4 times today to cry already. I work in a property management office and none of the manager's are in today and I am the only one of 3 admin support members who actually came in today (the other's are "sick"...mmhmm...St. Patty's Day flu I assume). Since 8am I have gotten nonstop people yelling at me, disasters to deal with, and the phone call volume for half the office redirected to me, on top of having to answer the phone for all other calls coming in. It's most frustrating knowing people are playing hooky with no regard to the people (person, in this case) who have to pick up their slack when they don't show up. In this business things really can't wait, you have to deal with everything quickly. So they will all come back on Monday to nothing piled up.

This probably isn't the right place to vent, but I spend so much time talking to you ladies I figured why not.

Anyone have any coping techniques for those days when everything turns you into a crying mess, validated or not? I have only had a couple days like this but this is the worst.

Re: 4 cries and counting....

  • i'm sorry you are having a rough morning.  i'm right there with you. i cried for about three hours straight today.  it took a good chat with a friend, just crying it out and a bowl of chocolate ice cream to get me to stop.  i'm sure that is no help to you, but hang in there.  the day is almost done.

  • i've had those days. several, actually. it's stressful, it is, but take some time to relax, take a few breathers. the more you stress out about crying, the more you may start bawling your eyes out. (at least that's how i seem to go)

    chin up! it gets better

  • that sucks!  The roads on my way into work were practically empty this morning, which is not normal.  Everyone is playing hooky!  Hang in there, the day's almost over!

No coping mechanisms for work stress for you.  When I start getting emotional over commercials, news stories (especially the earthquake/tsunami in Japan), I just try to either change the channel, turn the page, close the browser.  If I'm home and can have a cry without DH thinking I'm a nutjob, I do.  For me, it's important to head it off before it starts, because once I start crying I have a terrible time trying to stop.

  • Sorry you're having a crap day, but at least it's Friday right?! I can totally relate. My boss came into my office on Wednesday to discuss great stuff about my job and I couldn't even make it through the conversation with out telling him we will have to discuss on another day. You can look at me wrong and I will cry these days. (Oh and I'm NOT a cryer)

What I do is just concentrate (it takes a lot these days) and divert my thinking to something, anything but what I'm crying about. I almost lie to myself and I'll be like "Pshhhh. This is not a big deal, oh an orange sounds delicious right now. Or I really want to go to the mall later." This makes me sound like a crazy person, but if I remove myself from the situation mentally, it really works.

Ok, off to take my crazy pills. Chin up girl!

  • You guys are so great. Smile I know it is probably as interesting as watching paint dry to hear someone you don't really know whining about their job. I try to remind myself that at least I have a job and obviously I am one of the most dedicated employees they have lol.

I took a little walk around the building and added a few things to my baby registry and that made me feel better. But geesh, lazy people piss me off SO much.

    Thanks again. big hugs back.

  • Ok I just got the best email from my sister that totally cheered me up.

My 4 year old niece just got a new stuffed puppy and named it Assgrope. Of course my sister was shocked and asked where she got the name from and Ariana told her "From the Jetson's doggy." LOL! Astro!

That's really cute. Don't beat yourself up over crying. Let yourself cry. Sometimes we have sucky days and can't help ourselves.

Glad your day is gettting better.
