How do you stop LO from 'biting' you?

When they bite you while nursing?  Not really 'bite' since she STILL has no teeth- but she's taking her lips and piercing me hard- I don't want to scare her but I am wincing everytime she goes to latch.  Is there a reason for this?  Maybe teething??

  • What I would do is say "no biting" and if he did it again I would end the session and try again in like 5 minutes.  If he did it again I would say "no biting" and end the session for longer.  Eventually he came to realize that biting = no more booby and he stopped pretty quickly.

  • Thanks!! I think since she has been getting 2 bottles/day she thinks it's okay to gnaw on the rubber nipple a little bit- so when she's nursing she doesn't know the difference.
