I had McDonalds for dinner TWICE this week. Both times I ate a Big Mac meal with supersized fries and diet coke, with a double cheeseburger on the side!! I feel like I can out-eat anybody right now!!

Also, I know this sounds terrible but I'm disappointed with the location my sister and mother chose for my shower. There's barely enough room to accommodate our guest list of 70 people (room capacity is 75). I also think 70 people at a baby shower is totally crazy and I'm worried people are going to have a bad time because of it.

I need to go to McDonald's now!  and then make brownies because of the PP!  It's gonna that kind of day for me :)

  • I'm being bitter here but I love how people don't get what bed rest is.

I know they have good intentions but my boss just said she'd love to see my belly when she comes to town. Then I have the friends that tell me should "do lunch out" since I'm not working. Ummmmmmm sure, let's just meet up...Since the only time I get out of the bed is to use the restroom, to eat and for Dr's appts.

I guess it just rubs the fact that I'm not able to do anything in my face even more..

What am I supposed to say "oh you want to see my belly? Come to my house then." You didn't know? How about read the email I sent you with an update on how I'm doing. You know, the one you never even replied to..that one.

It's like if they cared to pay attention to really know whats been going on with me they would know how serious this *** is and that I'm not just on vacation or something. It's called BED REST not light activitiy!

  • I totally played hookie this week. My mom had minor sinus surgery on Wednesday and I had a doctor appointment. I told work that I needed to be there for my mom (all day) and that my appointment was moved to Thursday morning. I went into to the office for a few hours yesterday "before my appointment" and then skipped out to play on St. Patrick's Day! I only work mornings, so it was nice!

I don't have an issue with Gay Marriage and sort of support it. I know this is a hot topic in our society today. I feel that it is everyone's right to marry who they want to marry regardless of their gender. Separation of church and state....

I don't either.  Which is apparently a big deal because I live in Texas (VERY conservative republican) and I'm a Christian.  Apparently we Christians are supposed to ignore the "don't judge" clause in the Bible because being gay "is an abomination unto the Lord."  I say it doesn't matter what I believe as a Christian because of Separation of Church & State and the fact that it is NOT my place to judge anyone for the way they live.  It is only my job as a Christian to love all of God's creatures.

Yes Very well said... I am/feel the same way.

I went out last night with MH and some friends for Saint Paddy's day (drank club soda....well maybe 2 sips of MH's beer, but that;s not my FFC!).  I may have purposely stuck out my bump and rubbed my belly while waiting in line for the bathroom...it worked every time!!  All the drunk girls squealed in delight over my belly and insisted that I go to the front of the line....sometimes pregnancy has its perks Wink

Haha I totally did this last year while pregnant with DD and at Wicked in Seattle with my mom.

When H asked "What happened to all of the brownies you made yesterday? Did you eat them ALL?!" I looked him straight in the eye and said "Of course not! Do you really think I would eat an entire pan of brownies in one sitting? I accidentally burnt them so I had to throw them away. I'm gonna make some more when I get home tonight." LIE!!! I ate every last damn one. And they were good.

LOL Oh, I am so in love with you...

  • My shower is tomorrow (yippee!!!), and I'm very interested to see if my step-mom is going to get wasted and make a fool of herself.  She ran into another guest and asked "So, will you be having a few drinks at the shower?  I will!"  The person she asked does not drink and is my mom's best friend's mother...did she really think this wouldn't get back to us?  She's already made enemies on my H's side because she refused to come to our engagement party, my bridal shower, and our rehersal dinner because my brother picked H to be God Father of my niece and not her son.

I guess my confession is I'm kind of looking forward to her embarrassing herself.  I have faith that my friends will take her down before I even have chance to notice, so she'd better be careful.

here's how i feel about it, and i'm not religious... i won't support it politically because i feel even heterosexual marriage is not something that the gov't should interfere on either. but yet, i can't say that out loud because all people hear is "i don't support gay marriage"... not true, i don't truly care who people want to marry.

marriage should not be constitutionally protected in either circumstance since it is a religious practice. the gov't has thrown all these things at it to make it legal binding contract.

my main reason why i don't think it should have any gov't interference is taxes. i feel gay marriage is kept out because they do not want to give anymore people the marriage tax credit and lose money. follow the money and you'll find the answer!

maybe a little weird and rambling on this one... i'm hungry... lol

My mother sort of feels the same way about marriage being a religious practice... so she has an issue with calling it marriage(between gay couples). Well then call it union or something else... but make it equal.  "My husband and I are in a union based off the gov't and we are married by the church." I just wish that gay couples received the same benifits that heterosexual couples get.

  • I wish H didn't care as much as he did about the "getting ready" stage of the baby.  Everyone tells me that I should be happy he's so involved, but I want what I want and don't like to compromise.  I didn't want to fight over nursery bedding and paint colors, but I dammn well did.  I'm the mommy.  I get to decorate.

ITA - although I don't really think this has to be a "flame free confession". In my book, someone would need to use a FFFC to say the exact opposite... and I must confess that I might even then flame them anyway. I don't think I'd be able to resist.

  • Sunday is my birthday (29 - boo!)  Every year my in-laws seem to almost forget my birthday and then just act like it isn't the day after my birthday when they call me.  This year I am just hoping that they flat out forget altogether.  I would rather they flat out forget then have them call me a day late and pretend they remembered.  I remember all of their birthdays and anniversaries and always send a card/present and call them - if you can't remember my actual birthday then forget it and don't call me at all.
  • My best friend is throwing me a shower in 3 weeks and hasn't sent out invites or anything.  All she ever talks about is all the planning and work she is doing...I'm pretty concerned that no one will make it because they got their invites so late....I even offered to help her with them just to get them done and she won't let me.  Also 3 of my other close friends wanted to help and be part of doing my shower, I suggested it to her (and gave her their contact info) only to find out later she wrote them and told them "NO!"  Yikes.  I hope my shower isn't a train wreck.  (it's not common to have more than one shower where I live, I'm lucky enough to have two but no one has showers for LO#2+)

  • Although I am grateful that DH and I tell each other everything...there are just some instances where it is too much and makes me want to scream! Some of his family members are overbearing to say the least, and not in a "good" way. It's mostly just complaining. So, when something negative is said, for example, his mother and stepmother are fighting or his mother is upset because we didn't tell her the sex of the baby first, or about how my OB appointment went, blah blah, blah..ALL it does is stress me out!!!! I really do try to please everyone, but you can't. I just wish he wouldn't tell me sometimes, that's all lol!

Also, First, I will not claim to know what divorce is like or how painful it can be, nor do I ever want to know, but I wish they would just all get their *** together. It's been 13+ years. They don't have to be best friends, but for the sake of his little sister at least and to keep from driving the rest of the family nuts, I wish they could just be civil ugh!!

WARNING: THIS WILL BE INCREDIBLY BORING FOR MOST PEOPLE, but, as I found it to be very interesting (to me, that is), I thought I'd share. Maybe someone else might find it interesting too.

I've never seen marriage as a religious practice. Maybe that's because I am a lawyer, but I have indeed always seen it as binding contract that is unfortunately necessary in order to guarantee certain rights to both spouses, such as pension and stuff. The only reason DH and I got actually "married on paper" instead of just staying "married in life" (our law actually perceives people who live as husband and wife to be almost just as married as people who are married on paper) because it makes things much simpler legally speaking (when you have an actual document saying you are married you don't have to go and prove all the time that you have been living together for a long time and so on).

What the government interferes on is not so much the marriage itself (what the spouses feel for each other and their life together) but the legal consequences of that union (upon offspring, property, legacy etc.). The problem is that the gov uses that a loophole in order to invade a very private sector of the individual's life: love and sex.

The main issues with gay couples are custody, pension (when a spouse dies) and, of course, property. Break-ups tend to be gruesome. But our law has been adapting faster than I had imagined (it is a very sexist culture) and rewarding many rights to gay couples on the grounds of analogy. There's still a lot of ground to cover, but we are making steady progress. The final frontier, it seems, will be precisely getting the word "marriage" to be applicable to the civil union between two people of same sex. It does seem silly, I know - it's just a word to me too. But some guys feels that it is a symbol of segregation and marginalization. And I feel like I have no right to disagree. After all, I may be bi, but that hardly makes any difference in my life nowadays (I am now in a monogamous relationship with DH - a man) and it would be hypocritical of me to say that I have been subjected to the full throws of homofobia. I have my scars (I've been side-eyed, had fights - physicall and verbal ones - over it, I've been singled out and outcast over it) but I've never lost a job or couldn't get one because of it, for instance. I've never been kept from loving who I love and making that love official (religiously or otherwise) and socially acknowledged. So I just feel, like, who am I to say what is or is not a symbol of a segregation that I've truly never known, you know? I just sympathyse and leave it at that. Because I've seen too many very nice people that I love very much be hurt by that to think it is just a pet peeve. They want to be "married". We should just let them.

Oh, last but not least: in Brazil, as far as I know, there's no marriage tax credit. I had heard of that before (in a documentary, I think). We should copy that and extend it to everyone.

Thank you for the discussion. This was really interesting (to me).

  • I don't know why it bothers me, maybe it's because I look so young, but I hate when I see a post titled "Hey Girls..." or "Girls, ...." I'm NOT a girl. I am a woman. Call me a lady, but I haven't been a girl for many many years. Maybe it's the hormones.
