Baby ate some Junk Mail (sorry long)

Yes, I am mortified and especially since it was all my fault.

Last night as I was finishing making dinner I put Thomas in his exersaucer in the living room.  His latest love is to crumple paper.  He never ate it before!  He always would just crumple it and make noise.  Well, silly me, I gave him a piece of junk mail and he was just bending the envelope back and forth making noise, happy as a clam.

I was in the kitchen about 10 minutes, "talking" to him the whole time, but I did not look in the living room.  He was busy babbling so I thought he was okay.

Well, when I went to go get him there he was happy as can be chomping away on the envelope!  YUCK!  YIKES!  Two corners of the white envelope were gone. I checked him mouth and got out a little bit of paper.  From what I could tell there was no ink on the parts he ate.

Being a newbie Mom I called the drs office in a panic.  The nurse was so sweet and told me if paper is the worse thing he eats accidentally, we will be okay.

Hoping today will be less eventful!

Hope eveyone has a good day!

  • Caroline has ingested her fair share of paper, including junk mail. Extra fiber!

  • I was just about to say fibre!! Hang tough!Wink
  • Michael LOVES to go to the doctor because of the yummy paper they put on the table.  It is a game to see how fast he can stuff it in while we pull it out.  His doctor said she has never seen anything like it.  He will take a big bite, tear it off, and hold it clamped between his gums while you try to fish it out.  And then repeat.

  • Yes, you will be lucky if that is the worst thing he eats. Big Smile Don't feel bad mom!!!

Oh my gosh! This! It is amazing how fast Sydney does that on anything I give her to hold while shopping. This week, it was goldfish crackers. The bottom of the bag was swiss cheese!

Don't beat yourself up. Like the nurse said, if that's the worst he eats, you are doing a great job!

  • Aww... it happens.  Eventually you'll just be grateful that it paper and dissolves. I've seen Aaron find a days old Cheerio on the floor and pop it into his mouth before I can stop him. Gross. But you roll with the punches, I guess.

Umm yeah. I usually have a special section of "babyfied" items that I warn the cashier about before they are scanned. Caroline will chew up any container I give her to hold. Now I give her cans of soup.

We do this too! DH has started pulling the tag or barcode off of things before we give it to L so its still legible when we get to the cashier...

Paper is nothing! I totally agree with the nurse.  I caught Matt eating dead bugs from the window sill.
