Question to those that make their own wipes

I'm considering making my own wipes for use at home.  Not even sure where to start.  For those that do this, what do you use?

Also, DS's bum is very sensitive and tends to easily get diaper rash.  This is one reason why I thought homemade wipes would be better for him.  So I would need something that is for sensitive skin.

Thanks!

Re: Question to those that make their own wipes

  • Old flannel shirts that are broken in and soft.  You can make some seriously bum loving wipes out of those.

  • ditto on the flannel.  it's really helped, using them/ washcloths (we must have gotten 50 at our shower as they were for some game we didn't end up playing).  No more diaper rash!!

  • For DD we just use tiny wash cloths damp w/ warm water.  She was always getting diaper rashes so we started using the wash cloths when she was about 4 weeks old and have been using them ever since.

It may sound like a pain but it's actually quite easy and we don't even think about it as an extra step anymore, it's just habit.  Haven't had a diaper rash since:)

  • I made cloth wipes out of flannel and terry cloth. I made 8x8 squares and turned/topstitched them. Probably more work than really necessary, but I'm kind of a control freak like that :)
