Ok.....no flames...Im not trying to start an argument.
I just want to know if any of you can answer this.
Name one SPECIFIC accomplishment that Barack Obama has achieved in his political career.
Please do not put that hes a uniter, or wants change, etc, etc,.....those are NOT accomplishments.
I am curious to see the answers.
Re: Question about Barack Obama
Here:

https://www.biography.com/featured-biography/barack-obama/bio3.jspIt's his biography. I've linked you to the part when he's in politics.
Honestly, it really depends on what you consider to be an accomplishment. You might as well read up.
*sigh*
i always enjoy when people say they are not looking to start an argument but then ask questions that are so obviously loaded.?
get outta my head brahim. i swear this is what i originally typed. then i erased it just because the OP is so lame and not worth it.?
If you are genuinely curious, why not google him?
It absolutely seems like you are trying to stir the pot.
Ok, so as of right now...Ive gotten one..."look it up yourself" and one "isnt being elected senator enough?"
Im not thinking that is quite answering the question.
Im not trying to be antagonistic. I just wanted someone to actually state what specific accomplishments he has had in his political career.
So, you didn't read the biography I posted I guess.
you are absolutely antagonizing people
you are absolutely antagonizing people
Bull.
the fact that you cant recognize becoming a senator as an accomplishment points to being?antagonistic.?
if you're gonna troll, at least be more clever about it. oh and by the by, there is a?political?board. I'm sure the girls over there could give you a great education.?
quiet you!?
I was being totally straight up with you in that being elected as a United States Senator is a political accomplishment. I did not write "Isn't being a Senator enough"
You are being disingenous and I was trying to take your post at face value.
I call shenanigans on your lame attempt to stir up drama. If you honestly wanted to know more about what he has/has not done, you would do the research yourself instead of insisting people prove it to you.
Sorry MommaB
Lol- I only speak the truth!
Seriously, Obama has done a lot of good things in his career. Google can be your BFF if you give it a chance!
PS- Vote for McCain!
it's cool
sadly, it is the truth.
p.s. vote obama! ? :^P *needles AB* ?hehe
Brahmin - I am not mocking you.....yes, being elected senator is great....but does that mean that every single senator in the US "just" because they are a senator, should use that as the reason they should be president? "hey, I was elected senator...nuff said, vote for me?"
That's not what I was asking in the original question. The people that are telling me to go look it up myself are not answering the question. Please someone without anger or snarkiness just answer the question and list his specific politial career accomplishments.
This is not the same question and/or tone as your original question. Here you're asking what everyone hinks his greatest accomplishment has been - as in an opinion poll.
Your OP was simply a tone of antagonizing us as in "oh yeah what has Obama done...."
Ok you want accomplishments here you go:
He is a college graduate from Harvard Law School. He didn't have enough money to go to school so he took out loans (like most Americans). He was raised by a single mother and statistically most people that are raised in single home families do not graduated from college. THERE'S an accomplishment in itself.
First African American to be nominated by a major American political party for president.
First African American to be president of the Harvard Law Review
He helped create legislation to control conventional weapons and to promote greater public accountability in the use of federal funds
During his three years as the DCP's director, its staff grew from one to thirteen and its annual budget grew from $70,000 to $400,000, with accomplishments helping set up a job training program, a college preparatory tutoring program, and a tenants' rights organization
There is a ton more accomplishments to be said but my darn baby is wanting food and I have to tend to her. :-)
?
this is sooooo not what you asked in your OP. you asked what his accomplishment were. Now you are asking why we think he is qualified to be president.
stop back peddling?
Name one SPECIFIC accomplishment that Barack Obama has achieved in his political career.
Being elected a US Senator.
Swear to god that answers that question. It is specific and it is a political acomplishment. I am sorry it doesn't further your snarkiness goals, but I can tell you it is a valid answer to your question.
If you want to ask about a policy initiative or an accomplishement as a Senator or State Senator you'd have to rephrase your question.
You are changing the question here. I can't follow if you don't lead!
Misjenn - THANK YOU. I honestly mean that. You finally gave me what I asked for.
That is all I wanted. But I pose this question....is being a Harvard Law graduate a political accomplishment? no
Is being black a political accomplishment? um, no
What has he done as a US State senator, that is a shining POLITICAL achievement? You gave me 2 things, that are def good marks in his career....but nobody else can come up with something?
Lanaoo
She specifically stated she wasn't trying to start an argument and I think we should accept that at face value.
two things.
1. why do you have to be a supporter to acknowledge an accomplishment? I am no McCain supporter but I think he is very accomplished and probably quite qualified to be president on some level. However his ideals and beliefs are not my ideals and beliefs. I also feel that his ideals and beliefs are not in the best interest of America as it is today.
But that is for another thread. the point is you dont have to be a supporter to recognize accomplishment. And i think that is part of the problem with the OP. It has a tone like Obama has been sitting around in his underwear scratching his balls and not doing a damn thing all his life.
2. i don't consider this an argument. conversation, debate - sure. but this is what you get on a national board of varying opinions. I hate to say it but either get used to it or move on. its not going to change.?
Oh well you asked for accomplishments not Political. And I think that if you research it you will find an abundance of political information in Law School. I just leave you with this information...
John McCain graduated from the US Naval Academy in 1958.
He was ranked 594 out 599 students, barely making the grade required to graduate.
Guess that Law School sure does sound pretty good when you can barely graduate from the Naval Academy.
Here's a sample:
As a State Senator, Obama
I am voting for him because my BIL was at Harvard Law School with him and knew him when he was the President of the Harvard Law Review and said he's one smart man! Is that bad for my reasoning??
HAHA!!! Theres more reasons!
And MisJens comments regarding both of their educations is enough for me!
I live in Boston (Northeast) where we have some of the finest Colleges/Instituitions, academics are very competitive around here, and Obama's educational accomplishments are pretty impressive compared to Mccains.
lanoo, that was not her question. She was not asking "our" opinion on his accomplishments. In fact, there was no question. It was a statement directing people to tell her his accomplishments. I have a few problems with that.
- It is not my responsibility to educate others on the presidential candidates and their accomplishments.
- The tone of her OP was demanding and antagonistic.
- Accomplishments are subjective and she should really decide for herself what he has/has not accomplished.
Some people have taken the time to post what his accomplishments are or provide links for her, but she has chosen to ignore those posts and instead focus on people like me who refuse to do her work for her. If her intent was really to get information, why is she not focusing on the information that was posted for her instead of continuing to insinuate that he has no accomplishments since I won't post them for her.
