I have a bassinette, will be getting a crib and change table.
Do you think it's necessary to get a playpen/playard too? If so, should i just get the playard itself without any napper/changer or is it worth having these things?
i used my playard in my room until the baby was 3 months but you said you have a bassinet . I Took mine to our inlaws when we go visit and when ds is older and we are outside i will stick him in it to play .
anyways he he has only used the bassinet feature for the first 3 months then its been shoved under my bed , save the extra money adn get one without!
we will for sure being a pack and play, but that is because we like to go camping and on trips and things. not sure how much we will actually use it at home.

We use the pack n play downstairs as a changing table etc....I was also unsure about the napper---I didn't even want to bother setting it up. BUT---LO loves it. He'll sleep there for 2 hours easily---I think the snuggly feeling is like being held. To nap in his crib or bassinet he has to be swaddled---but in the napper, he can just be laid down.
Honestly think it's how you plan to use it that determines this...for example, we rent a 2 story condo so I plan to use it downstairs for naps & changing & think it'll be nice when the baby is little. We also plan to use it for travel but not sure I'd bother bringing those 2 pieces w/ us!
A lot of people get the PNP for convenience purposes for the downstairs. If you don't have an upstairs, I don't think you need it.....at least until they start moving around on their own. Most PNP's come with some sort of changer, but from what I hear, the newborn napper is a waste due to how fast they grow out of them.
I was in your same situation but live in a 1 story house so we did not bother. We have the larger size play yard that we use more of as a play pen so DS can have safe independent play when we need to do something. We've actually got more use out of it using it for this purpose. We don't do road trips so we didn't need a portacrib really but we wanted a play yard to keep him when I need to take a shower now that he has outgrown his bouncy chair and jumperoo. Good Luck.
