NT scan question WWYD?

I will be having mine on the 28th when I am 12w5d. A few people I have told that to have said that if it is a boy, it may be "pretty obvious" at that point. DH can't go b/c Monday's are his busiest days. He is planning on going to the anatomy scan, though, b/c he wants to be there to when we find out the sex.

If it may be obvious if we happen to be having a boy, do you think I should try to reschedule it, then, so that DH can be there? Should I not say anything & if the tech mentions a sex, keep it to myself? Should I tell the tech not to tell me if she has a guess? I'm a bit torn.

I had mine at 12w1d and the tech said nothing about the gender. Then again LO was curled up sleeping and it was hard for them to get a good picture.

So cute ! I'm actually hopeing mine will as well. Even if the tech doens't say anything, I think it will be hard to keep a secret if I can actually see something on the screen.

I'd tell the tech I didn't want to know. FWIW, a girl on my other board was told boy at her NT scan and the was told girl at her anatomy scan.

I have always been told that a sex guess at the NT scan is just that, a Guess. I wouldn't put any stock into it. I mean, they have a 50% chance of being right.

If you really want to wait and find out with DH, I would tell the tech not to make a guess.

I had my NT at almost 13 weeks and my baby was very cooperative so the tech made a guess that she *thought* would be totally accurate but she turned out to be wrong! She said girl, and at 16 weeks we went in for an elective gender scan (thinking it was a girl) and found out it was actually a boy!

A LOT changed down there in those 3 weeks

We're having one of each, and I honestly couldn't tell the difference between the two, even at our Anatomy Scan... At our MFM appointment this week, I asked them to reconfirm that A is a girl and B is a boy, and I asked how they knew. They showed me, and this time I actually saw it. It's obvious that B is a boy now!

At our NT scan, at 12w5d, the tech wouldn't even venture a guess. She said it was too early to tell...

It it were me, I would just wait until your DH can join. It's a moment that you'll want to share together, if you can!! Good Luck!

At 12 weeks it is too early to tell, the genitals are just starting to change and look almost the same. If they do tell you the sex its only 50% accurate. I would let them know that you do not want to know the gender until the anatomy scan

We are Team Green and told the tech that we didn't want to know. I remind everyone every time I get an u/s.

Our little one was laying sideways and we had no problems avoiding that area.

My tech didn't even bother looking and didn't mention it either (nor did I). I was more focused on the measurments, etc. being normal, but probably wouldn't have asked anyway since it's so iffy at that point. Thinking back to my NT scan, I didn't even get a glimpse at his "parts" because of the position he was in.

This exactly for me.

Plus, I remember so many girls from my BMB whose NT scan guesses were wrong.

Honestly, the NT scan is pretty awesome. I would definitely wait until your DH can go with you not because of the gender reveal, but because it is so awesome!!

I had my NT the same time you did; we also are "team green", DH did not go with me, as we were not expecting any anatomy information, and my tech did not say one word about the gender. However, the baby was moving all over the place and it took quite a bit of time for the baby to get into the correct position the tech needed to do the scan. So while we were waiting, she was scanning the body, taking lots of pictures--and when she got to the belly/groin area, the baby's gender was really obvious, at least to my untrained eye. :-) I shared that picture with DH, but we're still proceeding as if we're team green, b/c ~12w still is pretty early to know for sure, and I didn't ask for confirmation.

My suggestion would be to tell the tech up front that you don't want any anatomy info, and if you end up in a situation where they are scanning to wait for the baby to cooperate, ask them to turn the screen when they get to that part so you don't accidentally see anything.
