We haven't done a GTKY in a while. There are so many of us on here, and I feel like I don't know some of you as well as we could by now (is it just me??)!

What's the silliest/dumbest advice you've gotten about pregnancy to date? the whole "don't bend over because the umbilical cord will wrap around it's neck"
What's your nursery theme going to be (if you have a theme)? We don't have one yet, but it's going to be pretty outdoorsy/ nature themed, I think. Not big on character themes.
Biggest irrational fear? Pooping at delivery!! LOL
What's the silliest/dumbest advice you've gotten about pregnancy to date? I work in a university so all the women around me are pretty darn savvy. I've been lucky enough not to get dumb advice, dumb comments or random belly rubs.
What's your nursery theme going to be (if you have a theme)? Leaning towards a children's book theme of some kind - finding old prints of pictures from children's books - not sure about color or design yet.
Biggest irrational fear? Still, at any moment, that something could go wrong with the little one. I've had an easy pregnancy with not a hint of problems and yet, i keep waiting for the other shoe to drop. It is getting a little silly for me to worry this much. Also, being more terrified about my ability to breastfeed than of childbirth itself.

What are you looking forward to getting for/buying your baby the most? Now that we know it is a girl, I'm looking forward to the clothes shopping! We have a son, so we get to start completely over in the clothing department (I think DH's wallet is shedding a few tears lol)
What's the silliest/dumbest advice you've gotten about pregnancy to date? Hmm. Can't say I've gotten too much at all. This is our second, so I guess people assume I know what I'm doing at this point. I don't remember any annoying advice I got with DS - just all the annoying belly rubs!
What's your nursery theme going to be (if you have a theme)? Peter Rabbit/ Mr. McGregor's Garden, same as it was with DS except now with girly bedding.
Biggest irrational fear? That this baby will have craniosynostosis like DS did. Craniosynostosis is the early fusion of one of the skull's joints/sutures and that makes it impossible for the brain to develop properly. DS had to have it corrected with invasive skull surgery when he was 9 months old. They say it isn't genetic and is just one of those "flukes of nature" sort of things. But when such a rare deformity hits your family once, you're scared it'll strike again.
What's the silliest/dumbest advice you've gotten about pregnancy to date? I don't really know, I generally don't listen when people put in their $.02
What's your nursery theme going to be (if you have a theme)? My modern Spin on Winnie the Pooh

What are you looking forward to getting for/buying your baby the most?I love all the nursery decoration items.... the wall art, rugs, throw pillows, etc. That's my favorite part of shopping for the baby I think. Later on, I'm sure I'll go crazy with baby clothes... What's the silliest/dumbest advice you've gotten about pregnancy to date?I haven't really received any really dumb advice (so far)! What's your nursery theme going to be (if you have a theme)?No theme, just modern with bright colors. We are doing a light blue and red nursery regardless of the sex. Biggest irrational fear?I don't know if it's really that irrational or not, but I'm always scared that something is going to happen to the baby. In the first tri I was worried about miscarriage, now I'm worried about incompetent cervix or something like that, and I'm sure there will be a new fear in the third tri. I probably won't relax until the baby is in my arms... although then I'll probably find a new thing to worry about!
What are you looking forward to getting for/buying your baby the most?
I am looking forward to the quick trips to the store because we NEED something, like diapers or wipes. That's when I think I will feel like a "real mom". And also getting the nursery all put together and being prepared for baby to come home.
What's the silliest/dumbest advice you've gotten about pregnancy to date?
I plan on breastfeeding, and someone told me that "If you do it in the hospital for the time you're there, that's all the baby needs" ???? I don't think I get it. lol
What's your nursery theme going to be (if you have a theme)?
Shabby Chic - I chose Pink Damask bedding, lavender walls, and lots of frills!

Not being able to maintain my "bikini area".

What are you looking forward to getting for/buying your baby the most? The nursery furniture right now, only to make it seem more real. Then I'm really looking forward to my cloth diapers!! yay!
What's the silliest/dumbest advice you've gotten about pregnancy to date? I've gotten a lot of random silly advice, the one I hate the most is that I'm not allowed to lift ANYTHING according to everyone else. I know what my body can handle and if I want to lift a 5 lb box, I will dangit!
What's your nursery theme going to be (if you have a theme)? Haven't decided yet, waiting for our anatomy scan on Monday to see which team we're on.
Biggest irrational fear? I've heard people telling me that their feet grew when they were pregnant. I already wear a size 9.5 and really do NOT want to have to go to a drag store to get cute heels after LO is born! (Ok a bit over dramatic I know, but a 10 sounds so much bigger than a 9.5). ugh.

What are you looking forward to getting for/buying your baby the most? Hmmm. I am excited to get the crib and dresser.
What's the silliest/dumbest advice you've gotten about pregnancy to date? When I had heartburn/ acid refux dring the early parts of my pregnancy people told me the baby must have a lot of hair.
What's your nursery theme going to be (if you have a theme)? We are either doing to do a jungle theme or fish. Still trying to decide. We are team green so we are trying for gender neutral.
Biggest irrational fear? I have been babysitting and around children all of my life. I have 25 younger cousins/ 12 nieces/ nephews and I am terrified that I will not know how to take care of my own child. I know this will not be the case but I am scared that I will have to ask questions and people will laugh at me.
What are you looking forward to getting for/buying your baby the most? I am looking foward to buying the first item in pink or blue! We find out next on the 24th!
What's the silliest/dumbest advice you've gotten about pregnancy to date? My mom just keeps telling me I am going to get too fat if I eat like I do and my husband does not think I eat enough. No other real advice yet. I am sure it will come at my baby showers though.
What's your nursery theme going to be (if you have a theme)? I have not totally decided. I guess just waiting to find out if we are going pink or blue.
Biggest irrational fear? I am afriad I will not know what to do once baby gets here.

BakingMrsC- The bikini area upkeep is one of mine, too! It's going to be quite a job since I plan on being in a bathing suit for most of summer to cool off in the pool.

What's the silliest/dumbest advice you've gotten about pregnancy to date? OMG. Everybody and their mother tried shoving crackers and ginger ale down my throat for M/S during the first tri. What the heck is up with that?
What's your nursery theme going to be (if you have a theme)? We don't have one! Our bedding is theme-free.
Biggest irrational fear? I'm scared he'll have my nose. Of course if he does I'll love him and think he's beautiful, but I grew up being picked on because of how big it is and I would hate for him to have to experience the same thing

What's the silliest/dumbest advice you've gotten about pregnancy to date?
My DH's grandfather, who was visiting from Italy, made us pasta one night and was getting angry at me for not being able to finish the 2 huge bowls of pasta he served me. He kept telling DH to make me eat it because the baby needs to eat too. It was pretty funny and all I could do was laugh.
What's your nursery theme going to be (if you have a theme)?
I don't know the gender yet and I've not decided on the nursery design if it's a girl yet. If the baby is a boy I want it to be a vintage car theme.
Biggest irrational fear?
Nothing specific, just praying for a healthy baby!
What are you looking forward to getting for/buying your baby the most? Kind of silly, but cloth diapers. I just adore little fuzzy butts, but I probably won't when I get pooped on

What's the silliest/dumbest advice you've gotten about pregnancy to date? That I will want to quit my job when I'm 7 months along and that I should just go ahead and tell them I'm not coming back after the baby is born. I already love my kid more than life itself, but I know in my heart (and in my checkbook) that I have always been meant to be a working mom.
What's your nursery theme going to be (if you have a theme)? DH's aunt let me pick out material for a quilt she's making for LO, and based on that it will be bright reds, greens and browns with some jungle animals mixed in.
Biggest irrational fear? That DH will be freaked out after seeing my hoohah get stretched out, he'll never want do the deed again, and we'll never have another kid. Redonk, I know.
What are you looking forward to getting for/buying your baby the most? Im really excited about decorating the nursery. I ordered a vinyl mural off etsy (that arrives today yippee!!!) Its a tree with a cute little owl and butterflies. So excited to get it and put it up!
What's the silliest/dumbest advice you've gotten about pregnancy to date? Nothing too crazy. My mom is driving me nuts with her "holier than thou" attitude. She loves to remind me how healthy she ate when she was pregnant with me every time I decide to have a diet coke. If only I could be as cool as her- geesh mom im trying!
What's your nursery theme going to be (if you have a theme)? Colors will be bright pinks and purples.. "theme" will be owls.
Biggest irrational fear? Well I don't think its irrational, but, I am terrified of childbirth. Everything about it. The tearing. The pooping. The mom seeing my wooha. The Iv. The cathether. The lack of control. EEK!
Actually, of doctors in general. Every time I have an appointment my heart rate goes crazy, my blood pressure goes up, and the doctors freak out. By the end of the appointment, its back fine.. but I have major white coat syndrome.
I know it will end up fine.. I always freak myself out for nothing. But ive been this way my whole life. When I used to have to get shots when I was little, i'd literally run away LOL. They would have to run through the neighborhood looking for me!
What are you looking forward to getting for/buying your baby the most?
I can't wait to get started on the room! I love looking at different blogs & websites that offer ideas for baby rooms. I told MH that as soon as we find out the sex, I bet the room will be done in less than 3wks I'm so excited!
What's the silliest/dumbest advice you've gotten about pregnancy to date?
Surprisingly, I haven't heard much of anything. The only thing I got very annoyed with was when someone suggested I go sit in the corner to rest at a concert "because you're pregnant". Really, because standing here I will overexert myself? I have never wanted to smack someone so much (mind you she did other things prior to this- awkwardly give me hugs & kiss my belly). It was an odd night to say the least...
What's your nursery theme going to be (if you have a theme)?
No theme yet. I love nature/modern ideas, but MH is on the fence with some of my suggestions. We'll see once we find out the sex.
Biggest irrational fear?
I have this fear that I won't know if my water breaks. Weird, but I have a gf that this happened to. She was due in July, it was hot & during the night. She thought she was just sweaty, but luckily, she had a Dr.'s appt the following day because it turned out to be a partial break. She got yelled at and went straight to the hospital. eek! I also have this fear that I won't be able to breastfeed.
What's the silliest/dumbest advice you've gotten about pregnancy to date? nothing really but this is my second one.
What's your nursery theme going to be (if you have a theme)? if it is a boy we will do retro cowboy if it is a girl, I'm not sure if we will re-use DD's or go with something new.

What are you looking forward to getting for/buying your baby the most? I am looking forward to buying my stroller & cloth diapers. Cloth diapers are so cute!
What's the silliest/dumbest advice you've gotten about pregnancy to date? Luckily I haven't really gotten any dumb advice yet, but I am sure it will be coming.
What's your nursery theme going to be (if you have a theme)? I found a bedding set that I love at PBK it is a nature theme with trees, birds, butterflies, and owls. The colors are a light pink, sage green and creme. I can't wait to start decorating.
Biggest irrational fear? I am afraid of her not being healthy and we get so overwhelmed with taking care of her.
What's the silliest/dumbest advice you've gotten about pregnancy to date? From my boss when I said something about getting my yogurt from the fridge "You know you don't need calcuim. There is no scientific proof that calcuim is needed by our bodies." Uhh.... what? I just said i liked the taste and walked away. lol
What's your nursery theme going to be (if you have a theme)? I DONT KNOW! AHHH! LOL I need to know what this baby is first.
Biggest irrational fear? I dont know if I have one right now. I only have the rational fear of a m/c because I had one before, even though it was very early. I think that major fear has drowned out the little silly ones.
A rug that I've had picked out for yeeears.

No theme, just bright colors.

It's not necessarily irrational, but I refuse to read anything about labor and/or tearing.
What are you looking forward to getting for/buying your baby the most? We honestly don't need to buy much stuff, nursery decor I guess.
What's the silliest/dumbest advice you've gotten about pregnancy to date? Most people are pretty good, I don't get a lot of advice. I get a lot of "oh, it's going to suck to be pg in the summer" though to which I respond that I'd rather be hot and miserable all summer long and actually make it past 30w this time. I'll take hot over bedrest and the NICU any day.
What's your nursery theme going to be (if you have a theme)? will be determined next week.
Biggest irrational fear? most of my fears are pretty rational, but I have a weird fear of having a hermaphrodite baby

"make sure your roughen up your nipples with a dry wash cloth before your start breastfeeding!" uh.... No thanks! I'll just endure through the pain if there is any!

Modern, travel theme for boy, and shabby chic if it's a girl!
Biggest irrational fear?
As of right now, I'm starting to get really anxious, I always do a week before my apppointments, but this next appt is the anatomy scan, so I"m super nervous that baby will have no arms and legs or something! I can't think of anything else!
Oh, and this!!!! LOL!
Furniture! We can't pick and we're going to make the plunge and choose this weekend. Then I can't wait to find out team pink or blue so I can decorate!!

Just that no one wants me to do anything and treats me like im an invalid!!

My favorite childhood books I think (someone else said this earlier!). I am a little obsessed with the poster who has the Calvin & Hobbes mural though- that was awesome!
Biggest irrational fear?
Lauren just said some of this but...
Catheter and IV. Tearing so badly that it will affect the rest of my life. Not being able to breastfeed... the fact that I don't even know how to change a diaper. That I won't be a good mom. Pretty much everything.
What are you looking forward to getting for/buying your baby the most?
baby clothes and the stroller - we are between a few right now.
What's the silliest/dumbest advice you've gotten about pregnancy to date?
If you dont satisfy a craving, your baby will be born with a mark on its body. Silly Italian OWT!
What's your nursery theme going to be (if you have a theme)?
Once we know if its a boy or a girl, we'll decide. I think it will be more about colors and less about a "theme." For a girl, I like light yellow and gray.
Biggest irrational fear?
Tearing really badly or internal scarring. It literally keeps me up at night sometimes. Oh, and my boobs never going back to normal size.
I'm so obsessed with the crib bedding right now. We're not even getting a matching set, I'm going to ask my mom to make a solid crib skirt and then get a bunch of fun colorful sheets to go with it, but for some reason I'm obsessing about getting these crib sheets! Can't wait to find out the sex so I can better choose them, but I think I'll go with bright green either way.
What's the silliest/dumbest advice you've gotten about pregnancy to date?
Just general comments that assume I should take advantage of MH for no reason. If I really am too tired to get up and fill up my water glass of course MH will do it for me, but assuming I'm asking for things jsut because I'm pregnant is really annoying to me.
What's your nursery theme going to be (if you have a theme)?
We are planning to get some nice kids artwork for the walls, with bright colors, adn then doing solid colors that match the art for most everything else.
Biggest irrational fear?
Tearing. I can't even think about it much. But the rest of L&D doesn't worry me at all. Strange I know. Oh and also that no one (family and friends) will care that I had a baby LOL as if that could ever be true! Totally irrational.
What are you looking forward to getting for/buying your baby the most? All the research for things is starting to exhaust me. I am ready to pick out something because I think it is cute. So, clothes is probably what I am most looking forward to!
What's the silliest/dumbest advice you've gotten about pregnancy to date? got to be the crackers thing for m/s. It usually comes from a guy who thinks that is a cure-all. I try not to be a brat but crackers are not a cure-all for everyone. Crackers actually made it worse. The thought was nice but men should not give m/s advice.
What's your nursery theme going to be (if you have a theme)? Teddy Bear Picnic. My mom is making the bedding out of gingham in a rainbow of colors!
Biggest irrational fear? I haven't felt anything regarding the baby move. I have an anterior placenta and was told that I might not feel the baby move until later. I worry that something is wrong even though I have no reason to think that.

I can't wait to get the nursery set up!

I can't really think of any silly advice I have gotten about pregnancy so far but it took us awhile for me to get pregnant and received some really silly/dumb advice during that time!

What's the silliest/dumbest advice you've gotten about pregnancy to date?
Since this is my second pregnancy I haven't gotten and dumb advice but I'll never forget when my MIL told me to rub tequila on the babies gum when he is teething.I know that it's an old home remedy but they make better stuff for teething now.
What's your nursery theme going to be (if you have a theme)?
DS's nursery theme was Precious Planet and we plan on using it for this baby since it can be for both a boy or girl.Biggest irrational fear?
That I'm not really pregnant. I know its crazy especially because I have morning sickness and almost every pregnancy symptom and have seen the baby twice. I think I will feel better when I look pregnant and when I can feel the baby kick.
ladies, I know it's gross but honestly, at least for me, I didn't even realize I was doing it while in labor. The nurse would just change the mat that was under me. OH! and the nurse kept telling me that if I was pooping then I was pushing the right way. I hope this helps to calm everyone's fear a little bit.
What are you looking forward to getting for/buying your baby the most?
His or her first stuffed toy. Mine was a gift from my dad on the day I was born. That panda bear was my most cherished item.
What's the silliest/dumbest advice you've gotten about pregnancy to date?
I haven't gotten much advice. Dumbest advice I've heard of is to eat whatever you want b/c you're pregnant.
What's your nursery theme going to be (if you have a theme)?
Not really a theme, but the nursery will include plants & natural elements (like the rest of our house).
Biggest irrational fear?
That my marriage will change significantly post-baby. Irrational not because it's unlikely, but because it's so obviously likely. Not sure why I'm afraid of this, but we have been married 7 years and gotten pretty comfortable just taking care of each other.
What are you looking forward to getting for/buying your baby the most?
CLothes! (especially if it's a girl)

Don't scratch your belly because you'll get stretch marks

Biggest irrational fear?
Last night I got worried that I wouldn't put my baby in the carrying sling right and she/he would fall out. It really freaked me out for about 5 minutes. LOL
What are you looking forward to getting for/buying your baby the most?
Matching outfits for the little sister and my 18 month old!
What's the silliest/dumbest advice you've gotten about pregnancy to date?
That because I'm all belly and not eating enough (according to other people) my baby will not be healthy.
What's your nursery theme going to be (if you have a theme)?
We will have a shared space nursery/toddler room in a French Riviera Theme.
Biggest irrational fear?
That someone will kidnap my kids.... I'm super neurotic about this.
I taught DH how to maintain this "special area" for me. He does a very good an thorough job! LOL
