South End Daycare costs?

HI ladies - I'm relatively new to to this board (I posted last year a little while we were ttc).  We just found out we're pregnant with our first child.  Amazing, exciting and overwhelming all at the same time.

Can you tell me what your daycare rates for an infant full time is?  We're trying to figure out our budget and I haven't told my work yet so I can't do a lot of calling around without giving it away yet...

ETA: Currently, we live and work in Auburn

Re: South End Daycare costs?

  • I am in the north end but when I was looking I found it to be between 1100-1800 a month for an infant and a daycare center (the higher end was more toward the eastside/kirkland/bellevue area). And it went down as the child got older and moved into rooms with a higher child to provider ratio.

We ended up going with an inhome daycare. We pay $150/wk but that is on the very low end of normal I believe.

  • I am in Tacoma, and I pay $30/day, part time in a licensed in-home.  She is a friend, so I don't know  if she is cutting me a special deal or not, but that is on the cheap end of the spectrum.

    Congratulations to you!

  • I live in Auburn :)

I just went through a search and I found the range to be from about $1000.00/month for some of in home daycares to $1200.00/month for the centers.

I can't recommend childcare.org enough - they were very helpful in my search and are free if you call them instead of using the online service.

I know my in-home day care provider might have availability when you're due - I *love* her and she's very reasonably priced.  She's up on East Kent Hill, though...

Great! Thanks for the link!  I'll definitely have to check it out.  We're actually looking at buying a house so it might depend more on where that ends up being, but Kent might work :)

  • I'm in Renton, so kind of South-East side.  We take Lucy to a licensed in-home daycare.  As an infant, we paid $40/day for full time care.  After she turned 1 the price dropped to $35/day.

  • We only use part time care due to my crazy hours at work but we pay $40 day for in home care.  I know when we were looking it ranged from about $30-$80/day depending on in-home/center etc.  GL :)
