I am thinking about putting the crib together in our room and keeping it there for a few months (hopefully will be able to get it throught the nursery door after!). I rather not waste money on a bassinset if its not necessary, but read babies like more confined areas. So far getting PNP w/ bass. (for downstairs) and rock and play so if we can get away with no bassinet, that would be great. Anybody do this, or plan to?
Re: Anyone plan to put baby right in their crib?
I had always planned on doing that no matter what. Then, when ds was born, we lived in a tiny one bedroom apartment and really didn't have a choice since there wasn't a lot of extra space for 'unnecessary' baby gear. We never have had a problem with ds sleeping in his crib. We moved into a house when he was 9 months old, and he was in his very own room, still in his own crib and there were no weird adjustments to it at all.
This next baby will go in their own crib too from the start.
Riley didn't sleep in her crib until about 4 months. We had a bassinet in our room that she slept in. We don't have 2 stories but it was just easier to get her for middle of the night feedings with her right there. I would definately invest in a swaddler because that will help with the more snug feeling.
BTW, unless you buy a mini crib it will not fit through your nursery door unless you take the front half of the crib off. When we moved we tried to be slick and not take the whole thing apart but we ended up having to take the front off to get it through the doors, and we have a brand new house so it's not like the older houses with smaller doors...
That was my plan and with baby in his own room ASAP.
I just personally feel like everyone sleeps better that way.
I have a pack n play for away days my SIL gave me.
I have a Moses basket for our room for those really bad nights or quick naps, but otherwise in the crib it is!
Who knows though. That's what I strive for now. I never say never and am not adamant about much in baby world.
Not for me and actually not recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics. They suggest rooming in for 6mo, which is what we did. DD had terrible silent reflux and had a few serious choking episodes when she was a newbie, I never would have been comfortable with her in another room that soon, but it is a very personal decision. We had an Arms Reach Cosleeper and we bed shared quite a bit. She HATED being flat because of the reflux and took a ton of naps in the swing as a result. Plan to do the same with this baby, except I may get a Rock n Play sleeper if I have another refluxer, because I hear rave reviews and it is pretty affordable.
Good luck with whatever you decide! It may also change as you get to know your baby - some are noisy, light sleepers, restless sleepers etc...you just don't know what will work best.

We are planning on the PnP with Newborn Napper in our room for the first while as well. For those of you who have said you are doing the same, do any of you have the Angel Care Monitor? We are wondering how we could use this other than in the crib...or for 2nd time mom, were you very aware of your LO with them being in your room anyhow?
(Sorry to sneak this in to OP, but asked earlier on Nurseries & Baby Gear and didn't get replies yet...but lots of the posters here seem to have the same PnP plan as us).
