Postpartum Depression

Did any feel like their meds stopped working after a month?

I've been on 10 ml of Lexapro a little over a month.  I felt great the whole time until this past week.  I haven't been crying - I'm just getting angry over stupid stuff and I find myself saying I hate my life again.  Do I chalk this up as just a bad week or do I need a higher dose?  My baby is 8 months old and still doesn't sleep through the night and has decided to wake up for good at 5am this past week.  Maybe I'm just sleep deprived?

  • I feel that way right now and I'm on Wellbutrin XL.  My 6.5 month old just went from STTN for a month to waking up every 2 or 3 hours, so that may have something to do with it.  I'm going to give it another week or so and then call the doctor's office.  I need to do that anyway because he only prescribed me 3 months worth of medication - I need to find out if they are just going to cold turkey me on the meds.

I don't think they're planning on making you go cold turkey. I think most anti-depressants require a weaning period if you're going to come off of them.

  • I was actually coming here to post the same question. I've been on Zoloft for about 2 months now (for anxiety). W/in a couple days of starting, I was feeling GREAT. The past week or so, I've been getting more and more intrusive thoughts and have just been moodier and more irritable again.

Not sure if the meds are leveling off and I need a higher dose, or what the deal is??. I'm really bummed about it because I was finally feeling so great after years and years of anxiety and depression. The thought of getting back to how I used to feel (badly) is just...well, depressing. And I'm really starting to worry about it.

  • I've heard some people can go a long time on the same meds and other have to periodically change. bc somehow your brain changes according to my therapist.  I think it is kind of that way with BC pills.  I had to change every couple of years, but I know women who were on the same thing for years and years.

I'm also starting to feel a change, but I'm not sure exactly what it is, yet.
