Do 7yr old boys still play with Matchbox?

My daughter was invited to a birthday party for a boy who is turning 7.  I have this toy already that I had purchased for another party that we ultimately didn't go to:

Is it appropriate for a 7 year old?  Or is he already too old for this?

    My almost 7 yo (eek! did I just say that!!?!) would like it for all of 5 minutes.

    My almost 6 year old would like b/c he is into planes.  I would call and check with the mom.

    My 6 1/2 year old still plays with his matchbox cars.  I think he would like that.

    All three of my boys would play with it.  Everyday?  Nope.  It's not going to be the most favorite toy, but definitely good to have on hand for a "rainy day."

    And, I can see it being incorporated into their lego playing.

    Stay at home mom to a house of boys: two amazing stepsons, 12 and 9, and our 4 year old.
