Making a baby registry- suggestions?

For a first time parent not knowing what to buy/ask for-

what web-sites are there that rate baby items (safest car seat, etc)?

for those already a parent- what are the baby items you couldn't live without?

I highly recommend the book Baby Bargains. There should be a new version coming out in April (they publish a new version every 2 years. I know you asked for websites, but this book is great, and seriously goes through everything!

I would suggest not registering for clothes unless there is something special you really want or you register for a few basic white onesies. I think people love buying baby clothes and you should get plenty from other people.

This! Being a first time mom, I got this book based on a lot of recommendations and it was worth every penny! I would've been lost without it!

ditto baby bargains that book really helped.

Register for sleep gowns/sacks. Sheet savers have been a blessing since you are changing a small section rather than the entire sheet.

Also if you will be driving alot with Lo a travel bottle warmer is a great thing to have.

This! I do not know how I would have been able to create a registry otherwise. A real life saver!
