How are you sleeping these days?
I actually just broke down and cried last week, because I am so very exhausted. My LO is so sweet but won't sleep longer than 2 -3 hour increments which means I haven't slept longer than 1.5 - 2.5 hours at a time for over a month.
I am hoping it gets better soon! It does help that I am so very in love with my little man ![]()
TIA!
Re: Moms of outside babies...
DS didn't STTN until he was 12 months old (he woke up every 3-4 hours or so). He didn't go 12 hour stretches until 18 months. So for DD anything is better than that, haha.
We co-sleep but she sleeps about 5 hour stretches and has done 1 7 hour stretch.
I always found that it was worse at night with DS, in the morning things didn't seem so bad. Now that I have a toddler and can't sleep when the baby sleeps during the day it's harder.
DS is only 1 week today so I have no schedule. Is it okay to feed only every 4 hours at night? If so, I may give that a try. Right now he eats every 2-3 hours so that's how long I sleep. I do sleep with him on my chest sometimes, though, which gives me a little more sleep time. I hope that's okay too...
I'm sending you sleepy dust for a great night tonight!! Also, I'm going to go read Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child. Everyone I know recommends it.
This, except we need 2 people to feed both babies. During the day we have help from family for most of this month, and they handle some of the feedings, but at night it's just DH and I so we don't get much sleep. Plus, I'm EP'ing, so for every 3 hour shift, I get at most about an hour of sleep. It's exhausting, but we're managing and keep reminding ourselves that it won't be like this forever.
God bless the 2 of you! I'm sending tons of energy vibes your way! LOL You're right. It won't be like this forever even though it feels like it, but it sure is worth it!
I think my problem with sleeping isn't so much that she doesn't sleep. It is that I am so paranoid about wanting to know that she is breathing all the time. I am SUCH A WORRY WART!
She sleeps in her PnP between night feedings. Then starting with the 5 or 6am feeding she sleeps in bed with us. Definitely, get the better sleep here.
The more we co-sleep the more sleep we get. We have also got the side lying nursing down... so once we get over pooping all the time we should have the nights conquered.
Right now DS is usually awake for an hour or so in the am, about 2 hours in the evening (besides when he feeds of course). He will sleep for 2-4 hours (more at night) but rarely in his bassinet... usually next to me or in my arms. Our wrap is a godsend...
In the night he wakes around 1, sometimes again around, 3 and then around 5 (when we get daddy up to go to work). When I was pumping DH would have to get up for the 3am... I just could not do it all.
To the twin moms... I admire you so much!!! I don't know that I could do this with 2! (Same goes for moms of 2... I may want more kids, but the logistics baffle me right now...)
