I know I'm still fairly new here, but you ladies are pretty much the only ones who know that DH are TTC. I had my annual exam earlier this week, and my doctor told me that I need to stop TTC for at least 2 months, until I've had my next colonoscopy, and it comes back perfectly healthy. Background: I'm 27, my mom was diagnosed with terminal colon cancer at 28 and died 6 months later. I had my first colonoscopy at 22, and it came back perfectly normal, so the doctor said come back in 5 years.
My 'little' sister, who is 22, had her first colonoscopy about 3-4 weeks ago, and they did end up finding a polyp (which they removed and sent for testing). We don't have the results yet. She has the two most adorable little boys already, and she's pretty sure she's 'done' having kids.
As irrational as it is, my biggest fear was always that I would get cancer before we could have kids, and that somehow, I would end up unable to conceive as a result. (Please, before you flame me, I *do* realize that just because my mom had cancer doesn't mean I will get cancer, or that it would leave me infertile.) I just feel like I already missed my 'window' because I waited to have kids.
Sorry for the vent, but I needed to tell someone! This is exactly why our friends and family don't know we were TTC...

I am so sorry about your mom.
Try not to think the worst and just get the colonoscopy over with! Stay positive, you'll be back to TTC in no time.

I'm sorry to hear about your mom and your family history with cancer. Hopefully your sister's test results come back in her favor and your screening will go well. Keep us posted on your journey.
Thinking and praying for you.
bingham -- they scheduled my 'consult' appointment for April 6, to make sure we didn't get a BFP this cycle (we didn't). Then I'm flying to see my sister from 3/30-4/5, so the earliest/best time was the 6th. From there, I don't know how long until the actual colonoscopy; it might depend on availability there, too.
Thoughts and prayers to you and your family. Our TTC is on hold too due to H's cancer Tx so I can kind of understand where you're coming from. I hope everything works out for the best! ::hugs::
