We LOVE the name Brynn, and always have even before conceiving... but it rhymes with our last name Grimm. (Yea I know most people don't post last names, but it's already my username. lol) In all our full girl name would be Brynn Elsie Grimm. Love Brynn Elsie... but darn our last name! Any one else broken hearted over a name they love but can't use?
Re: Ever have a name you LOVE but can't use it?
Mae.
I've always loved it, but it now rhymes with our last name, and has a bad personal connection in DH's family to boot.
Got Swag?
Theodore.
I'm a history nerd and I love Theodore Roosevelt and I've read all about his life and awesomeness, and I'd love to name a son Theodore Patrick and call him Teddy, but we can't do that with our last name.
Without being oh-so-obvious, let's just say that there is a popular snack of little yummy teddy bears that come in different flavors, and Teddy [Our Last Name] - being almost 100% identical to the name of the snack (minus an "S") - could lead to some teasing.

DH and I love the name Harrison for a boy.
Unfortunately our last name is the same as a certain actor.
Henry is also ruled out for us, because of the same reason.
Our last name ends with a Y, so nothing like Lucy, Macy, etc. It's too rhymey...
yup! i wrote on someones thread earlier! I LOVE the name Willow sooooo much! and I've loved it before I ever knew it was Will Smith's DD's name. I thought for sure before I was ever married that I would name my DD Willow
guess what? Our LN is WILLIS!!!!!!!
Willow Willis....
Charlotte - my nephew is Charlie and it'd be a little too repetitive (we have a REALLY small family)
Violet - would lead to really bad initials for our daughter.
Duncan, Daisy, Desmond, Sawyer, Porter, Cooper, Connor - too sing songy/or rhymey
Yes. The only MN I was planning to use (long and historic family name) for my first boy is one letter off (last letter) from DH's last name. Like Robert/Roberts. And since our kids have a hyphenated last name (His-Mine), I'm just not that cruel.
I even warned DH about it before we married and suggested he take my last name to fix the problem! No go, though he was trying to convince me that we should BOTH change our LN to his great great grandmother's maiden name because he liked it (???). It's a boy this time...so now we're stuck on the MN as there are slim pickings in our families. Sorry, but Dwyer and Lionel are just not our style.
almost all names that end in "N" don't work with our last name. The only ones that I love that I've had to nix are Gideon and Arden.
I also love Milo and the NN Theo but LN starts with an O and it runs together too much.
And my husband hates the name Matilda, so that's off the list. Such a shame.
Emily (niece's name, which would be our baby's 1st cousin)
Ciara (MH's niece's name is Tiara*pronounced Tee-air-uh* and I'm not a fan of the rhyming with her cousin)
Esme and Mae (both rhyme with our LN)
Adrienne/Adrian (we're from Philly so you can imagine how hellish life can be with ppl screaming "Yo Adrienne" all the time)
Paul and Joseph. I love the names but Paul was my maternal grandfathers name and Joseph my maternal great grandfather. Normally family names are a good thing but in this case, they were both alcoholic a-holes who abused their wives. Not an homage I want to pay.
Silas
Cecil (boy)
Cecily (girl)
Esther

We're not pregnant or even TTC yet, but I've already begun thinking about this. :-)
Our last name starts with a D and ends with an L. Unfortunately, a lot of names I like have D's or L's in them that just don't sound right with our last name. Adele, Adelaide, and Adair are a few examples. Names that end in -elle like Gabrielle sound a little strange too. I also like several boy names that start with D, but I don't like alliteration so that rules those out.
Anneliese. Rhymes with our last name.
I love the name Holly but we can't use it or any H name because my fiance's last name begins with "Hol...".
"If you're going to be two-faced, at least make one of them pretty." - Marilyn Monroe
Same for me except the last name. Mine was Violet Annabelle.
I REALLY want to name a daughter Aurelia, but my neice was just born and her name is Amelia. Way too close sounding, her mother would get so upset at me.
Would you have to NN her Charlie? We considered Charlotte (DH Grandma's name) and thought "Lottie" was cute for a NN, but maybe I'm just weird.
I know this doesn't help you OP, but I have to say I love the name Brynn. It is my top choice if we have a girl.
