I know this may seem like a selfish question to some. Have any of you dyed your hair during the first trimester? I have med. brown hair w/a majority of gray roots! Just wondering, thanks!
Yup. But I used a 10 minute hair color kit just to be especially safe =3

I'm not. But I am also not taking any pills (i.e. allergies) and avoiding all non-organic and processed foods. Paranoid? Maybe, but I really don't want to intake these things into my body anyhow.
My doctor said to wait till 2nd tri to color hair, so I'm getting mine done next weekend. woohoo! It seemed like forever to wait, but you get used to it after awhile.
My doc the first time around said to wait until the 2nd tri, so thats what I'm doing. You can buy little pens that have a mascara-like wand for non-dye touchups, or you can ask your doctor if one of those five-minute root touchup kits are ok.

With DD I waited to til 2nd tri. I was scheduled for a touch up and found out I was pregnant at week earlier so had to cancel. To hide roots I kept my hair pulled back in a headband (or folded scarf tied like a headband), I do this every couple of day anyhow so it didn't seem out of the ordinary for me. During 2nd tri I got highlights and had them apply dye as close to scalp, but not dye touching scalp. For gray touch up you can you a semi-perm color (gloss) totally safe and it will cover the grays.
My Dr.'s office said coloring hair was fine in the 1st trimester. I've been wanting to get some highlights for Spring. I heard that it's best to make a morning appointment so that the fumes from the chemicals in the salon aren't as high.
i am, hair stylist still work in the first tri and they have contact with hair dye every day. I will tell my stylist i'm PR and tell them to keep the dye off the scalp
I am a hairdresser, if I couldn't touch color or perms or whatever.. I would be out of a job. My ob said its fine to be around it let alone I smell it. And my DD is fine. I am pregnant again and I need to work. LOL. So its up to you what you feel comfortable with. But trying to give you a piece of mind, that it is ok to color. I told another post that you could do hi-lites and low-lites in foils and that wont touch your scalp. Do what makes you feel comfortable!!
I think you're supposed to avoid letting it touch the scalp - and good ventilation! I switched to color glaze, which washes out but it covers my gray. I'm a brunette too. I can't phathom smelling the smell of hair dye right now or nail polish. Makes my stomach turn.

I was about 3 weeks pregnant when I colored my hair and I didn't know I was pregnant yet. The girl that did it is my best friend and worked in the salon throughout her pregnancy and colored my hair multiple times when she was pregnant. I think we'll be ok.
I did it about a week before our BFP and will not do it again until (hopefully) I have this baby. I know it is supposed to be safe now though. That is just what I am doing.
Also my hair is brown, I have died it dark red for about 10 years and for the last year I have been trying to get it back to just brown. It is VERY hard after you go red.

There is nothing wrong with getting your hair colored when you are pregnant. Back in the day when there was formaldehyde in hair dye it was bad. Now the products in hair color aren't harmful. You could be pregnant and work in a salon and be fine. But all this is said about going to a salon, not box hair color.
My Dr. said it was fine, I used box dye the day after my BFP, and I'm timing another box dye right now. The only thing that bugged me was the smell and standing for so long while putting the dye in.

I asked my doctor about this. She said it is safe to dye your hair as long as you are in a "well ventilated area." I am getting my hair done at the end of the month when I am 12 weeks. When I scheduled my appt I let hair stylist know that I'm pg so I would like to wait outside or have a fan blowing in my face after he puts the dye in just as a safety precaution. He said he was no problem at all. I let my hair grow out for the last few months and I was surprised to find I also have some gray hair. It's been bugging me like crazy but I wanted to wait for as long as I could.

Of course! My mom's a hairdresser and worked through her first two pregnancies, no issues. I think I'm doing red this spring and violet right before the baby gets here. Postponing the next piercing (industrial) and the tattoo removal though.
