IVF and Seafood question

Hi! I'm on vacation and am really craving some seafood. I hope to be going in on Friday or Monday for my baseline labs and u/s to see if we can start IVF2. Is there any harm in eating seafood this week, or should I abstain?

Thanks!

We also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And HOPE does not dissappoint.

Re: IVF and Seafood question

  • You should be fine....my RE always says that diet does not have much of an effect on fertility. He always says" Look at all the people in poverty stricken countries that are malnourished and they get pg." every time I ask about dietary changes.  A balanced diet is the best thing you can do for yourself......

I say go for it! Enjoy Wink

  • Seafood is really good for you, but any woman of childbearing age should avoid fish high in mercury, like tuna, swordfish, etc.  It builds up in your system, so you shouldn't eat it even when you're not cycling.  Have fun!

I was actually told high mercury fish was fine....just not to be eating it all of the time (jeremy piven style).

  • I agree - it should be fine.  I know some people who have gone on strict diets when cycling (gluten free, etc..) and it has worked for them, so I will never knock it, but so many people get pregnant eating junk or next to nothing - that it just doesn't make sense to me.  Of course, unless you have a known dietary issue.

Have fun and eat some crab legs for me!!

It may not affect the outcome of your cycle, but the potential effect is on development in pregnancy.  The mercury is no good for you either.
