We go to Southside Pediatrics, have seen both Dr Phillips and Dr Gloyeske. Honestly, they are both nice and personable but I am not sure we will continue to go there. Dr Phillips was very nice but I never got much feedback from him through our son's first year. So his last appt at 15 months, I changed to Dr G but I was not very happy with how the appt went. He left me feeling very nervous and stressed. I am going to see how the 18 mo appt goes and if it leaves me feeling the same then I think I will find a different practice.
Early on, we also had a problem with them scheduling our checkup appt. When we showed up the day of the appt we were told the doctor was on vacation and we did not have an appt. Huge inconvenience! I know for a proven fact we had an appt that day, they just never called us to reschedule.
The other thing that kinda bugs me about their practice is they do not like you seeing any of the other dr's in the practice, only the one you are assigned to unless it is an absolute and I mean absolute emergency. They will only allow you to physically change dr's once during your whole child's lifetime there. I don't really like that policy, as it seems they are on vacation quite often etc....babies get sick or need attention and it doesn't always work around their vacation schedule.
I don't have personal experience, but we have friends who take their kids to Dr. Fredriksz at Southside Pediatrics and really like her.
Thanks, ladies! I will check out Dr. Fredriksz. Heavensentt - your experience really helps, too. We were never really thrilled with our pedi and almost switched several times. I'm hoping for a better fit this time!
We see Dr Vyas at the new countly line medical place...She has seen our lo since birth & other than closing at 5:30pm they are great!! The nursing staff always answers our questions & are just a phone call away...They have given us TONS of free formula samples & are just all around AWESOME people! We also couldn't get in to see Dr Vyas once & Dr. DuBoise fit us right in on the fly...he was also VERY friendly & helpful with our lo's first illness as new parents! I highly recommend them to anyone! Hope it helps & good luck!!
We use to go to Dr. Kidd at Kidd Pediatrics but now have switched to Franklin Pediatrics - just made more sense after buying our home in Franklin.
I waited it out to switch because rarely was getting sick and we were really only going for check ups. At his 15 month check up it was a disaster - got there at 315pm for a 330pm and didnt get called back to the room until 410pm. Nurse did height, weight, etc and then left. While waiting for the Dr. Clark tripped on the rug in the room and hit his head on the wooden bench in the room and in the mean time I had the nurse get us some ice but yet we still waited another 15 minutes for the Dr. After the visit with the dr. we had to wait again for the nurse to come back for the shots ....all in all not a good visit and we didnt get home till 530pm (I left work at 230pm). This gave me the push to get someone else closer and at a practice that had more Dr.'s. Dr. Kidd is very nice but his office was ran very poorly!!!
All 4 of my kids see Dr. Jolene Fredriksz, and love her. She will listen to what you have to say and not just ignore your thoughts. She has 2 young children herself and really understands what new/ parents with small children go through. The only down side is, she is such a great doctor that she gets booked FAST! I had to reschedule my LO 9 mo. well baby appointment from this monday to her first available... April 28th and then nothing until almost June. As for the other doctors in the practice, I've only seen them maybe once each. Dr. Phillips happens to be a friends childhood pedi, and sees her son. She loves him, me on the other hand... I find him to be very rude. My sister takes her 2 girls to see Dr. Kidd who happens to be her husband's childhood pedi. Good luck! Oh and the number to Southside Pediatrics is (317) 865-2700
