Re: Bed-Rest Mamas Daily Check-In ~ FRIDAY ~

  • QOTD: Yes!  DH and I signed up for it when we signed up for our child birthing classes.  Those classes were the only time that I truly broke the rules of bed rest (though I had doctor's permission for at least one class -- the breastfeeding class), and DH and I feel much better off for having gone to all the classes.  If you haven't gone, I would recommend it, even if it has to wait until after the baby comes!

Updates: I didn't have my babies on March 8, 9, or 10!  Now, we have to cross the 11th off the list of possibilities too!  (And the 12th and 13th because the babies aren't ready yet, but also because my OB will be in Cleveland.)

  • QOTD:  No we haven't, and I really want to.  I might try to get one while at the hospital during recovery.

UPDATES: Nothing much.  Slept soooo well last night, so today I am energized and ready to get to work!  I have made it to 37 weeks and 1 day...a personal best with pregnancy :) He can come anytime now and I will be elated.

  • QTOD: No, not yet. I did so when I had my son but that was almost 6 years ago. I think a refresher would be good though.

Updates! My dr.'s office called and now I have a c-section day. It's April 7th. And it's my 1st anniversary this weekend!! That's my good news!! But, I mentioned my cousin the other day and the hard desicion the family had to make. She ended up passing away.

Yes. Granted it was in 2006 before my eldest was born, so I think I need a refresher (although that's what my H's for.... he's really good at remembering steps, reasoning and instructions).

    UPDATE:
At my high-risk appt. yesterday the doc saw things were stable, cervix is still long and closed at 4cm and uterine wall is holding at previous thickness.

It's going to be a LONG day. It's so quiet around here. My little one's are spending the day with family this weekend (to help me out since I'm on bed-rest) so I'm missing them tremendously. I won't see them until dinner when my H picks them up after work. I just hope they'll be taken care of just the way I usually do (but I know better).

  • Hello ladies! Can I join in? Name: Jamie Due: 7-7-11 Began Bedrest: Nov. Type: Modified Reason: Severe hyperemesis graviderum (sp?), Complications due to bicornuate uterus QOTD: Took one a long time ago but definitely need a refresher course. Updates: I have been having gallbladder problems and had an apt. with a surgeon yesterday to discuss options. We are going to try very hard to avoid surgery until after baby is born of course. If I do have an attack severe enough to require surgery the plan is to ship me to a hospital 3 hours away that has a very good NICU as surgery could cause me to go into labor. I have to be very careful with what I eat so I'm really going to have to resist some of the crazy cravings I've been having lately!

Sending my condolences to you. I'm so very sorry.

  • QOTD: I am an RN in L&D, so I get re-certified every year in infant resuscitation. Poor DH is really losing out because I have so much baby training already. We had signed up for a childbirth and infant care class that we couldn't go to because of bed rest. We were taking the classes mainly for him, and now he is just going to have to go with the flow.

  •  Good morning ladies!! Question of the Day:Free-form Friday: Any question asked; theme-free! Have you taken an infant CPR course?I have not, but I do plan to on top of many other classes.  There is so much stuff to fit in on the little bit of time that I will be off of bed rest. Update:  My fFN test came back negative, so two more weeks of a little less stress!
  • QOTD: I am an RN, and have to recertify every year in all types of CPR, also was an EMT for a few years.  My husband has a CPR course every two years as law enforcement - but its really a joke, so I'll probably either get him in a class or find the AHA video to at least have him watch it.

Updates: I've now decided I NEED to def. take baby classes - childbirth, breastfeeding, and baby basics.  My hubby has been through it all, but I'm a newb, and he can't "remember" anything from 6 years ago... so a refresher would do good for him, too.

Quick question - Anyone else's husband totally against cutting the cord at the birth? He's totally grossed out by it - but a few of his friends have and I've had him mention it to them... I'm thinking he's starting to turn around.  Plus he knows how special it would be to me.  (He doesn't plan on going anywhere below my waist - I'm planning to labor in the tub, etc... so he's got a whole lot coming!

DH was TOTALLY against it, and the DR even asked him twice.  The second time he said ok, and then after thought it was totally cool.

  • Welcome, dalpern, ryanandkristen, fashionchica2, mango79 and KristinMaree!

QOTD: Not infant CPR, but I am looking into it!

Update: Had a Level II Ultrasound this morning-  I have marginal placenta previa but not full placenta previa, which is good news. Waiting for doctors to round to find out how much longer I'll be in the hospital, but I've heard 1-3 weeks.

  • QOTD: No CPR class here. Though I have been certified in the past.... Nice part is that our community is have a free CPR class including infant CPR later this month :o)

Update: I am ecstatic because I am officially "full term" today! Hooray for getting to 37 weeks! Also the Dr is being less restrictive now, so although I am still not allowed to work or exercise or do anything remotely active... I am allowed out to do minor errands and housework! Woo Hoo!!!!

  • QOTD: Yes - we are signed up to take Infant CPR, Birthing Classes, and BFeeding class.

Updates: I finally slept really, really well last night! And we have sun here today! Continue to have contractions whenever I stand up - so taking it easy (of course) on the couch. Hope all you mamas are getting rest and doing well!

  • QOTD: Not yet. In each of my pregnancies I sign up for classes and then they tend to end in loss...so I'm not signing up this time around. Maybe once I'm closer to full term...perhaps! Hopefully.

Update: No updates! Day four of bed rest at home going well. Glad I found this board. Having a hard time giving up my work to other people, giving up making dinner and controlling what I'll eat and when/ability to change my mind, etc., worried about the stairs and standing in the shower...basically, figuring out the logistics of this. Baby is kicking up a storm and I'm loving him more and more.

We haven't taken one yet bet definitely will be at some point.

I had an appointment yesterday and my fluids are up but they still want me to stay home. Today I went in for my first NST and all looks good. Some minor contractions but nothing that even puts me close to being in active labor. They were about to unhook me when I had on last contraction and she left me hooked up for a couple extra minutes and then took that contraction back down to L&D and they said because LO had a heart acceleration during it all was fine and I was free to go. I go back for my regular weekly appointment on Tuesday and will have another NST.

  • I took the class when I was on hospital bedrest with DD.

UPDATE: Week 1 of bedrest down and on to week 2!!!  Its been a LONG week and hard on us as a family but its getting easier as the days go by.  My hips and back have started hurting from laying here.  But as long as the baby is cooking and healthy I'm fine with whatever comes this way
