My boys were in the NICU for 2 weeks and have been getting pumped breastmilk for over 6 weeks. One of my boys has figured out how to BF but my other little guy is having trouble. I've worked with a LC, who says it is because he is tongue tied.
Aside from the logistical issues with this (i.e. I still have to pump), I'm worried that it is "unfair" that I BF one baby and get that bonding experience with him.
Has anyone else been in this position? Should I just abandon BFing all together and pump for both?
Re: One baby BFs and the other does not--advice needed
i knew i would be facing this because cleft lip kids cant breast feed effectively. i was wanting to still BF the other but the work behind it all was insane. Yeah you could try to pump one boob while baby is one the other but its stressful. i did abandon BF and EP for 2.5 months and then quit that too cause the boys were eating every two hours therefore i was pumping every 2-3 hours and i was at home by myself. I felt guilty at first and still sometimes think i could have done it (my supply was good) but im SOOOO much happier now, i feel like i get to 'hang' with the boys instead of worrying about getting them down to nap so i can pump for the next feeding.
Many women on here EP and it is very possible and I'm sure you could figure out how to make BF work its just work but it can be done.
