Baby Names

Well I HAD a name....

we had decided on Reese Harlow...

but i came across Anya and I love it! now i don't know which to choose

Anya Reese or Reese Harlow

i lurk here often so i know that many think harlow sounds like harlot and reese is a boy's name and is supposed to be spelled rhys...but these are the two names we are down to and we would just like some help between the two..

TIA Ladies!!!

Re: Well I HAD a name....

  • Definitely Reese Harlow. I don't remember the names of your other children but I remember thinking Reese fit well with them.

Really?  I've mostly seen it spelled Reese.  It's how my uncle spells his name. Huh... correct or not I don't like the way Rhys looks compared to Reese.

Rhys is welsh..it's traditionally a boy's name, but was made popular in the US from Reese Whitherspoon

100% Agree. I like them both, but Anya seems really almost odd compared to the other siblings' names. It's so much more exotic and fancy and would go so much better with like-sounding names.

Reese sounds like it fits right in and I like it a lot. Stick with the original!!!

  • I like Anya Reese better....gives it a more feminine feel.
  • I like Reese better, but I really don't like Harlow.  Reese sounds better with your girls' names, and if it only comes with Harlow, then I vote Reese Harlow.

I agree, and I don't really like the name Anya.

  • Oh I love Anya!!! :D Anya Reese is very pretty and I much prefer it to the very masculine combo of Reese Harlow. Of all of the unisex names out there (most of which I hate), Reese is one that I kinda like. And I think it sounds nice with Anya. Plus, there'll be plenty of Reeses and Reeces and Rhyses in your DD's class, but I imagine there won't be any Anyas!

  • I don't like the name Anya, because the one I knew in HS got made fun of a lot ("I wanna get Anya," etc.).

I agree that Reese fits right in with your other kids' names.

  • Anya sounds like "on ya" in certain circumstances...

  • I like Anya much better a lot less common and Resse ahs always been one of the I just dont get the appeal names ot me.
  • I love Anya.  It is different and feminine without being too out-there.  Love it!
I don't know what's up with my siggy and I am too lazy to figure it out.
  • I think Reese would go better with your other kids' names.
  • OK, this is total bias, but I knew a girl named Anya when I was in school. She smelled and was an odd girl, so I could never name someone that. Besides, I think it's too close to onion. Stick with Reese Harlow

  • Tough one!

I like both Reese and Anya about the same.

If I had to pick independantly, I would say go with Anya Reese.  But with your sibset, I think Reese is a better match.  BUT - I think Reese Harlow is very masculine and the middle name kinda ruins it for me :(.

    What about Reese Anya?

  • Could you do Reece Anya? I don't care for Harlow, and Reece does sound better with your other children. Then you could still use Anya.
  • Reese Harlow, no question

OP ? I prefer Anya, but I think Reese goes better with your daughters' names. I would go with whatever you like more. If you love Reese than go for it (even though I prefer Rhys for a boy).

    Completely ditto.

i think Reese sounds better as well. i wanted to make sure my kids have at least one name between their 1st and middle that they could turn to if they wanted. Brooke Ashlyn - brooke seems more adult than ashlyn and then there is little Lainey Paige - paige seems more adult and if she chooses to use paige later in life to seem more 'adult' then hopefully i did my job! i do like anya reese and she would be called reese. i go by my middle name and have my whole life. i feel like my first name sounds like a stripper name and have never gone by it...

that being said...i feel like reese harlow is cute, but as an adult what would she turn to if she wanted to?? if i went with anya reese and called her reese she could eventually use anya if needed....UGH! why does this process have to be so difficult!! /vent (sorry lol)

Thats funny. I first read it and thought "I would choose Reese Harlow out of the two". Then I saw this post where you listed your other two children's names....and I have a friend with a Delainey "Lainey", Brooklynn "Brooke" and a Reese!

  • I think Reese Harlow is too Hollywood-ish and trendy. Anya is classic, sophisticated and will age beautifully.

I don't really care much for about matchy sibsets, though.
