When we were released from the NICU we spoke with the nurse about getting the boys baptized. They were in the NICU for 48 and 58 days. We have about 500 people that attend our church. She said that once RSV season is over in April that it would be a safer time to do it. She also suggested that we do it in the home if possible so we don't spread as many germs around.
Now the boys are 4 months old and are doing WONDERFUL.
They will be 5 months old at the time of the baptism (April 10th). I was thinking about doing the baptism in the church but just after service. That way it will only be our guests there (28 people) and the pastor and nobody else. Our home is small and I really don't think we'd be able to fit 28 people in here.
What do you ladies think? What did you do when you were getting LO's baptized? How old were they? Of course I'm going to talk with the boys pediatrician today and ask her what she thinks as well, but I also wanted some opinions from fellow preemie moms ![]()
Re: Baptism for preemie questions
I think planning to do it after service with less people, in April, so RSV season is eanding is a good idea.
We waited until they were 4 months old. We actually did it last month. At the church my husband and I both held a baby since we have twins. After at the reception they stayed in there carriages and at our table.Only we held them or our parents. Everyone knew enough to not ask to hold them. They could come over to see them but that was it. It was nothing personal towards anyone but our way of keeping our babies healthy the best way we could during the RSV season. Everyone understood and were just happy to be part of the celebration and to see them. Even if they were not preemies, I personally don't like to see an infant passed around, not just because of germs but it stresses them out.
