Re: 14 mth old very picky need food ideas...

  • my lunches arent that exciting either - typically its grilled cheese or pb&j or toast with cream cheese/jelly. I posted the other day for ideas and I thought veggie burgers was a good one for lunch and Im going to try that. If your LO likes eggs, you could try egg salad and I might try tuna salad but I'm pretty sure my LO won't eat it.

For dinner, she gets what we eat. If she doesnt like it or we are having something "unhealthy" (like pizza or take out) - then I keep stuff frozen in my freezer that I just defrost. The main things are I make a regular sized batch of a pasta casserole (I do whole wheat pasta, mixed veggies, and ground turkey or chicken and then make a raux cheese sauce - bake for about an hour and then I freeze in portion in a large muffin try), a rice & spinach casserole and do the same thing (which she loves for some unknown reason), and those broccoli & cheese nuggets (recipe is on wholesomebabyfood.com i think). My other backup is raviolis (i buy the annies organic ones in a can or the bj's club organic frozen ones).

  • We are in the same boat.  DS is so picky it is ridiculous!  I would love to hear from others as well, but some things that we have been doing are - quesadillas, Amy's pizzas, pasta and meatballs, fish sticks, grilled cheese.  Those pureed pouches of fruits and veggies are really the only way he gets those in - unless I disguise the veggies in his quesadilla.

  • These are some of my DD's faves:

Pasta w/ marinara sauce, bread with jam or cream cheese spread (I cut the crusts off and fold into a "sandwich"), blueberries, crackers & cheese, fruit slices, Cheerios, gold fishies, blueberry Eggos... (I know... she needs more veg, but she's picky about those!)

    Hope some of this helps!

    Good luck!

I love that you freeze in muffin trays, so smart!  My DS loves rice as well, and that rice and spinach casserole sounds great!  Do you have a recipe you can share? Thanks!

  • Emerson is eating better as of now. I think it was her teeth bothering her b/c she would only eat peanut butter sandwiches for a while there!  it was a huge struggle!  I'm just throwing ideas out...

    ravioli's (Beef & cheese kinds)

    black bean quesadillas

pancakes/waffles, eggs (I love breakfast for dinner, I just put a bit of butter or cream cheese on it instead of syrup)

Steam some sweet potatoes & chunk up so they can p[ick it up themselves

she loves can green beans (unsalted) b/c they are super soft Ick!

    mac n cheese with broccoli

    chicken enchiladas (LOVES)

    bean & cheese roll up

    still loves yogurt

Gerber toddler meals are handy on days she just won't eat anything!!

  • Have just written another post called 'Reward Charts Rock' as I too have a very fussy eater. The reward charts really helped me (www.victoriachartcompany.com). Have a look at that post x
