Cloth Diapering

Cloth wipes, fleece liners and diaper rash cream?

So LO got the beginning of a little rash. Totally my fault. She has been sleeping long stretches at night (yay!) but that means I don't wake up and therefore haven't been changing her every 2-3 hours (not yay). So I cut up some fleece and put it in the diaper since I read it helps wick moisture and also keeps the diaper cream off the diaper. All I have on hand is Desitin so I was using it. I realized after a day of changing her, that I was using the cloth wipes to clean her bum and the Desitin is getting on the wipes. I don't want to use disposable wipes on her bum because it will just irritate the rash.

Am I ruining my wipes? What are my options in this situation? Oh, and do I just wash the fleece liners with the rest of the diaper laundry?

  • I would do what you're doing but ditch the Desitin and use a CD-friendly option like CJ's BUTTer or CA Baby Calendula cream. I hope your LO is better soon!

  • I wash my non-safe CD creamed liners and wipes separately. You can also do them with towels. Once the wipes have been washed, they go back into the normal rotation and get washed with the dipes the next time, provided they don't have cream on them. So far, so good.

  • I started out washing separately but now I just wash it together and have not had any problems.  Its not like the cream gets smeared on the dipes in the wash.
