My sweet girl has a bald spot. A big one. Right on the back of her head where it has rubbed off from sleeping on her back and well, probably from the carseat on our longass commute. It is very noticable since she has all this dark hair. What do I do? I can cover it up with a head band, but she hates wearing it. Gavin's got real patchy at 4-5 mos and he had his first haircut at 6 mos. That did make it start growing like crazy so I'm seriously considering letting my SIL give her a tiny trim. Am I crazy? WWYD? And also, where are your favorite places to get girls hair bows/headbands/hats? Which etsy shops- I don't have time to search through them all.
Re: "Back is best"... my a$$
Um, not only did Geneva get a patch on the back of her head, almost all of the hair on TOP of her head came off - leaving her with a lovely little old man ring of hair with a bald spot. It happened at 2 mos., so earlier than Sophie, but it still sucked to see all that hair disappear.
Let's just say there ain't a whole lot of photos during that phase.
Awwww. We should have taken a pic of her with her old man hair and Gavin with his cheap toupee hair :-)
I promise I'm not being vain here, ladie... really, I'm so not like that! But this spot is BAD. Looks like someone shaved a hole in her head. I'm gonna have to post a pic when I get home tonite. Just cuz I'm a mean mommy.
Same thing happened to Addi. All of the hair on the top of her head fell out as well as the huge bald spot from sleeping on her back. Then by 4 months the old man ring fell out just as all of the hair on the top of her head started to grow in. I think she was 6 months old before her hair started to even out and look somewhat normal maybe even older than that.
I'm not much help, but I have heard they make little circle things that you can put in their carseats now that help this from happening so they are not laying flat against the back of their head all the time. If anyone knows of where to find them please tell me.
Poor Adam had a terrible flat spot on his head and after worrying terribly about it I was told by the nuerosurgeon (yes I had to see a nuerosurgeon talk about stressful) that it's just cosmetic and pretty common. With Ansley coming along soon I would really like to avoid this happening again if possible, plus a little girl really does need all the hair she can get.
lindzed - you might be thinking of the noggin nest? We have it and I used it some when he slept in the FP Rock N Play before moving to his crib. But I don't think it is recommend to use in a carseat in a moving vehicle. They suggest adding nothing to those to ensure saftey.

I have not seen this before! I think I have a BRU gift card... I might pick one up. She does spend a lot of time in the bouncy/swing at home as well as the bouncy at daycare (like Gavin, she will not nap in the crib!!!). And Gavin's head did get flat in the back and it did concern me quite a bit. If I could prevent that or minimize, it would be great.
Thanks! That makes sense that you probably shouldn't put it in the carseat. I hadn't even thought of safety. It would be great for bouncy seats.
