update to "daddy in 'da club"

I did call the mgr of the healthclub this morning. Very nice guy, I just expressed MY concern over the holes in dad's story, wondering if they knew anything, etc.

He checked the incident report and asked around. No one knows anything about the "fell into the pool they fished me out" incident. He offered to pull video and see, I said no need. Who knows what happened there. What they do know is my dad approached a stafff member (WOW!) and said he didn't feel well. They did the appropriate 1st aid stuff, and yes, he declined a medic call with passion, even though the club mgr assures me it was offered several times. The other mgr at that point was around, and my dad said he was worried about driving home, feeling faint still, so the mgr drove him home in his car, with another staffer following him to bring that mgr back to the club. (very short drive)  He assures me that they make every effort to let medics check people out like this, but yes, bottom line, if they're alert and conscious enough to refuse, they let them. (barring chest pains or something really obviously weird)  And MGRs need to be "on the scene" for this, (they're CPR cert, 1st aid responers, etc.) i.e. the juice bar girl can't be the one to say "ok, guy, you can go home without being checked out."

I feel MUCH better about how the club handled this. I thanked him and the other mgr for their efforts.  As for my father,

He's grounded for a week, with no phone or computer ;-P
