Hey Everyone,
This is my first cycle using injectable meds. I went to my RE's office today, and did the first set of injections myself. They said I could inject in my stomach or upper thigh. I chose to do it in my upper thigh. I feel like I have more control over it. Do you think it makes a difference? My RE said that I have about 20 small follicles right now. The Menopur injection hurt much more than the Follistim. The Follistim was actually easier. I'm also supposed to use Endometrium, but they didn't give me any information on that yet. I was really nervous before starting this cycle, but I'm getting really excited now. I really hope that this works. It's also really expensive! My RE is out-of-network so we had to pay $1000 deposit, and the meds are another story. There was a big mix up, and I wound up having to pay $2,900 for all the meds even though my ins. covers it. I'm going to try and get reimbursed. I'm trying to be really positive. This is TTC cycle #17!! I know many of you have been here a lot longer, but man oh man does IF suck!
Re: Just Started Follistim and Menopur
IF definitely sucks!
I was also on Follistim and Menopur. Follistim is a cake walk compared to the sting of Menopur! I hope it gets better for you and that you get your BFP!
We also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And HOPE does not dissappoint.

I'm in the 2ww of my first injectables cycle and I used different drugs but I injected into my stomach. I didn't like the idea of having to pull down my pants in the middle of the kitchen. I also had to do a few injections while in my car, so the stomach was much easier to access.
I hope you get reimbursed for the drugs!
Good luck and yes, IF really sucks!!

This. I inject the Menopur in my belly and very slowly. You won't feel the burn if you inject slowly. I was never a thigh person. I always became very nauseous for some reason if I inject in my thigh. Just not enough fat there I guess.
"lucky miss skinny thighs" LOL jk
I did thigh for follistim IUIs but switched to stomach for IVF b/c the nurse said the drugs *may* absorb better there. Agree about the menopur burn...yowch! But you've got BIG good news that you may not even realize: Then endometrium you mention is the vag progesterone...I *think* that means you won't have to do the big, scary progesterone in oil in the butt! The one that everyone freaks out over (myself included) Good luck! -Pix
Thanks so much!!
I can't do it in my stomach because (don't hate me) I'm really thin, and I feel like it's going to hurt more on my stomach. I barely have any stomach fat. I do it on my upper thigh which the nurse and RE said was fine. My leg still burns though, and I did the shot yesterday around 3:30. I'm waiting for the rest of my meds to come right now. I already forgot what to do with the Menopur. The pharmacy told me that they have a website that shows how to do everything, villagefertilitypharmacy.com. I'll have to check that out later.
