What do you think of the name Lenoir for a girl?
Obviously, very old fashioned. I just found out all the children in my grandfather's family had "L" names. I never noticed before, because several of them went by middle names, but the roll call was Lloyd, Lola, Louisa, Laurence, Lyle, Lenoir (who went by June), LeRoy, Lora (who went by Harriet), and Lyndon (who went by Bob).
I had never heard Lenoir before...so I'm kind of rolling it around on my tongue to see if I like it, or if it sounds too much like Elanor.
Re: Name?
I did think of edgar allen poe when I heard it.
And yeah - I knew an evil Lenora too!!!
I like Lola and Louisa too, but with Lola, I think of Madona's Lourdes, who they call Lola, and Louisa makes me think of The Sound of Music.
Take my advice, I'm not announcing our baby's name until the baby is born. That way it is solely your choice and you don't have to deal with your family and friends saying "EW.. not that name, it reminds me of this jerk back in middle school.." or whatever the story might be.
Lenoir is an old fashioned name. We're going for that for our kids. There's something so warm and classic about names that were big in our great grandparent's generation.
If you want a different L name: Lissette. You can spell it however you would like. Not many people have that name and its actually quite "French/unique"... at least that's what I've heard. That's my name... hehe.
Good Luck!
