There are two deer in our freezer. They've been processed and split into steaks and ground meat....but I do think the imagery is way more twisted to think of them whole.
Marinade, marinade, marinade! Helps get rid of the venison taste. ;-)
DH gets part of his deer every year turned into hot spicy ground sausage and that's tasty. And the back straps aren't so bad.
For the ground beef we usually use it in goulash, chili or when making a pasta sauce. Or sometimes as hamburgers (but add spices to it like Montreal Steak seasoning).
Steaks we either marinade and grill/broil or we cut some of them up and use them in chili (with chunks vs. ground meet).
Crockpots, marinade and spices are your friend. ;-) Enjoy!
I've never had venison, but DH likes "exotic" meats and gets elk, bison, alligator, etc. and I usually cook these meats in stews, soups, and chilis. It takes away from the gamey taste and makes them so they aren't so tough.
My H loves soaking steaks in Italian dressing overnight at the least. I have no idea what it tastes like, but everyone who eats it says it's really good.
After 22 cycles and tube removal our IVF miracle has arrived! Detailed IF and IVF info in bio.
I have an entire deer cookbook I got as a Christmas gift this year. What are you in the mood for?
Fuuck TTC - I'm moving on.
"It's a child, not a cheeto" Thanks mmariluh!
"Ew. I've read all of two posts from you, and you stink like rotting garbage."
From what I remember when my stepdad hit a deer on the way home from
work, seized the opportunity to stock our freezer, my mom just mixed it
with beef and put it speghetti, tacos, etc. I don't recall a
difference, but I was probably 12.

I haven't googled....but deer pancakes?
I made a joke to Justin that included deer pancakes, we'd have to eat those every weekend to get rid of the meat. It would hilarious if they actually existed.
Venison stew! Just like beef stew, except with venison.
The meat is actually much more tender than stew meat.
Also, a tip for getting rid of the gamey flavor: Before you cook the meat, cut off as much of the fat as is humanly possible. The fat does not add a good flavor like beef fat. Also, cut the meat along the grain as much as you can.

I would use the ground meat in tacos, pasta sauce, chili and burgers.
