My DH was 100% sure that we were going to have a boy. There was not one chance it would be any other way. Well we have a beautiful DD. He was more than shocked.
We also looked up the "tricks" (positions and stuff), yup you have a 50/50 chance. There are no tricks or secrets. We wouldn't trade DD for anyone or anything in the world though, I'm so happy she chose us
ETA: We also only wanted a healthy baby, DH was just positive it would be a boy due to no other girls in their family for years. The "tricks" and stuff we actually found through a link on TB I believe (in a post) after I had gotten pregnant. Just thought it was funny, the same positions we had used said we would have had a boy...lol

We were secretly hoping for a boy originally, but have expanded our horizons. After having a few friends recently go through terrible health complications with their little ones, we're just praying for a healthy baby!

When we first started TTC we were going for a boy but once I found out how hard it is to get PG I will be happy with either. I know DH still want's a boy.

I think there is validity in the shettles method and diet so if it is important to you then by all means give it a try. I don't have a strong preference either way so I would not want to even go there (plus at this point I just want a sticky baby).

Guess I tend to go against the grain. We would really like to have a little boy. Don't get me wrong. I love my DDs to tears, but would just like to experience having a son, especially for my husband. And I know he loves our girls as much as I do, and although we wanted a boy the 2nd time I cannot imagine life without my little spitfire baby girl.
And of course we also primarily want to have a healthy baby. I don't think anyone out there is thinking, "I'd like a boy (or girl) no matter the health issues." That'd be a bit bonkers. So, healthy first off, but preferably a healthy boy this go 'round.

I'm sure it's a bit different when you're trying for your second! If our first is a girl, I'd love a boy for #2... and vice versa!
I agree with having a healthy baby first and foremost! But if I could choose beyond that, having another girl would be easier since I already have the clothes. I have heard that the woman's internal temp can make a difference. If her temp is higher, it gives the boy sperm better chances since they are so strong. So naturally, if her temp runs lower, then more girl sperm survive. But who knows if that info has been disproven since it's publication. My mother still swears by it to this day!

Actually the majority of studies indicate the opposite: girl sperm are stronger then male sperm. Supposedly they are healthier but slower and male sperm are faster but weaker.

It's "sex," not "gender," and no. We just want a baby.
I really don't care if we have a boy or girl. I'd love one of each eventually, but I'll be thrilled no matter what. We're not trying anything to achieve a particular sex.

I thought I had read some where that there is some new evidence that the egg itself will choose the sperm that it allows to fertilize it. I am hoping for the boy again [after 2 boys a 3rd would be the easiest way to go] but know I really have no control over the situation.
We won't be actively trying for one sex over the other, and obviously a healthy baby is most important. But I'd be lying if I said we didn't have a preference. We both would love to have a boy first.

I would happily take either but if given a choice, I'd love a girl. We have son already and I would really like a little girl. The only things I'm doing to try for a girl over a boy is taking calcium and magnesium supplements and avoiding potassium. I read in a few places that this can help (although I realize there's probably also studies saying the exact opposite so I'm not putting too much stock in this!). I read up on the shettles method and think there could be some validity in this, but based on timing and position, #1 would have resulted in a girl instead of a boy, so I'm not convinced it works. We're not changing our timing or anything to TTC, because really, we just want a baby sooner rather than later.
I used to really hope for a girl and think a daughter would be so much fun, but I could totally picture myself throwing a football around of being a total sports mom. I have three younger brothers, so I have much more experience taking care of boys. Either would be a dream come true.
