gallbladder orrr what?

So for a couple weeks now at night only (a couple hours after we lay down) I wake up with some wicked pain on my sides that wraps around.The pain seems similar to the pain I had during pregnancy when I had a kidney infection...but that pain never went away and this pain does. It seems a little better after I leave gas or poop, so I had been thinking it was just because I was so backed up. ( i haven't been pooping regularly since i delivered) When this pain comes on, there is no making me comfortable...at all. Last night it lasted for about 2 hours. I took some motrin and it slowly faded away. I was telling my mom about it, and she said it sounded extremely similar to when she had her gallbladder taken out after she had my youngest sister. Has anyone else experienced this? Was it from being backed up, or gallbladder, or something else?

    I actually just had my gallbladder taken out yesterday!  What are you describeing sounds like the pain I had.  It started out in lower back worked it self up and then wrapped itself around.  The pain was unbearable...and lasted atleast a couple hours.  I ended up going to the ER twice..on the second time they finally figured out that I had gallstones which called "gallbladder" attacks!  I recommend you get checked out because the doctor told me they long you wait...then the gallbladder could get infected and that means you will land yourself in the hospital.  They operation only lasted 45 mins for me.  Now I dont want to scare you but...IM IN ALOT OF PAIN!  So be ready to be sore and make sure you have some help.  Good luck!

    Alright, thank you so much. My 6 wk appointment isn't until the 16th, but it looks like I'll be calling my doctor tomorrow and asking him to schedule me in sooner! Thank you for your info, and i hope you get feeling better and have a speedy recovery!

    I had my gallbladder out 3 weeks ago.  Sounds like the pain I had.  I didn't have much pain after having mine out, or not at the incision sites.  I had more "pain" from being filled with gas.  It went away after the first day though.  I'd be calling your family doctor and not your ob though.  Good Luck!
