2nd Trimester

Clicking feeling in pelvic area

I'll be 20 weeks tomorrow, and for the past two or three weeks I have had pain in my pelvic area when I wake up.  It usually lasts about a half an hour to an hour.  It's not extreme pain - just uncomfortable.  I haven't asked my doctor about it yet, but I'm going in on Monday for an appointment and my anatomy scan (yay!), so I will ask then.  I assume it's just growing pains maybe.  But this morning when I shifted weight from one leg to the other, there was a clicking feeling, like the bones were shifting.  I've heard of this later in pregnancy when waddling and hip pain are in full force ... but this early?  I'm barely showing.  The clicking itself doesn't hurt, but I just thought it was strange.  I noticed it a few times, and it hasn't happened again after that.  Has anyone else had the pain and/or clicking happen to them this early?  Could it be from sleeping on my side?  I don't have use any body pillows yet ... so maybe that is putting stress in that area or something.  Thanks!

Re: Clicking feeling in pelvic area

  • I am feeling the same thing.  During my last pregnancy I would "click" all the time.  After baby was born I went to physical therapy and it turned out... I actually was clicking.  The hormone relaxin allows for everything to stretch and certain joints will actually click. Good luck!

  • I have this every night and morning when i turn over in bed or get out of bed. Have had this happening for about a week every night but noticed it here and there about 2 weeks ago. It doesnt really hurt just a little uncomfortable.

  • Welcome to relaxin...my hips still pop and click, after I had DS. It's even worse now that I'm pg again.

  • Sounds like you may have symphysis pubis dysfunction. I had it with my last pregnancy. Google it and ask your doctor. Good luck with your scan!

  • I have something similar but its lower down than my hips, almost right at the bottom of my pubic bone, near to where the tops of my legs are. I'd honestly thought it might be from going to the bathroom so often and putting pressure on the bones you sit on. I guess it's just body rehearsing for delivery or something like that.
